I’d be setting up my 4x4 with some quality GME gear to explore this country and keep my family safe!

First up definitely has to be a PLB, then upgrade the 2-way in the Ute to a XRS Connect and then probably handheld or 2 for good measure.

Get the new XRS 4wd pack for the rig!
@epicridesandtours2 күн бұрын
Challenge accepted! The XRS range in general has some rad features: Programmable scan, call lists and other amazing features will allow us to have less interruptions to our comms as provided by CTCSS and DCS, while also monitoring calls on important regional channels, such as channel 24 for logging operations, channel 10 for 4wd, etc. XRS™ Location Services technology, short text ‘status’ on the tail of transmissions, and offline map caching is exciting. App programmability means I can setup channels, call groups, CTCSS/DCS, channel monitoring and more, so all the Riders have to do is use the PTT button. I'm interested in the XRS-330CTP Connect Touring Pack, as being the best-suited to our needs for the following and other features: 1) The antenna included is a medium gain item (6.6 dBi), which is a good, all-round performer that will provide comms on the tarmac, or in our beloved forested tracks. 2) The compact transceiver allows stowage in limited room available in our sidecars. Next comes the XRS-BT1 Bluetooth Interface Module & Wireless PTT. This is a no-brainer. On the handlebars of our sidecar rigs, the PTT button enables the rider to keep hands on the bar while talking. Convenient AND safer to use. It's also able to connect with third party Bluetooth headsets. IP67 rating makes it well suited to our operations. We would, of course, have two sets of both the XRS-330CTP Connect Touring Pack and the XRS-BT1 Bluetooth Interface Module & Wireless PTT (One of each on each rig) Combine this with the TX6165TP Twin Pack for times when a rider has moved away from his rig to direct another rider, or during winching operations. (Yes, we have winches for those "difficult" bits!) This package is exciting for the following reasons: 1) Much lower than expected price. 2) Includes AC adaptor for charging, as well as 12 Volt DC charging. 3) Rugged carrying case keeps all the components together. Again, the IP67 ingress rating makes this kit perfect for our operations. The total price of all the above is $2,415.00

Great work full upgrade my 105 series new cb and antena dcdc battery charger and go to the high county
@epicridesandtours2 күн бұрын
We run a couple of sidecar rigs. Will XRS-BT1 connect to a combination headset and microphone? We go offroad, so a straight BT unit is limited to just our bikes. Having the option of a BT connected UHF would allow us to listen out for and respond to fourbies, logging trucks, etc, who also share the tracks we use.

New handheld upgrade from the old onicrom uhf and 2 aerials then take it down to the pink lakes and along the yorkes

Great work GME! I’m traveling at the moment and find myself with 1 bar of reception in nearly every spot. So a cellular range extender aerial and PLB would be first up and I’d mull over the rest of it.

Good stuff I already have a xrs370 so I would do with a new hand held so the xrs660 and I wood lov to the moble phone booster and my rig so when right out on the tracks so if neeed we can at least can get a call out
@aidensfrost3 күн бұрын
If I was given $2,500 of gear, I’d buy an XRS 370 connect 4WD pack for the Ranger, and alternate antennas so I’m ready for anything. I’d then get the Bluetooth module and PTT switch so I can go hands free. A set of XRS 660’s for comms on the move, and finally a PLB just in case I get stuck. I’d then feel more comfortable heading out to do a Simpson desert crossing, and tackling some of the tougher tracks in the High Country.

We have a MX bike park which is in hilly wooded area and there is a shed in the middle which is used as a home base Approx 1km to normal furthermost point. The riders use handheld uhf cb radios(2-5W) and we would like to put an antenna on the top of the shed and connect a 5W R/T to it. The roof is sloped so a Ground Independent Antenna looks like the go, but I am unsure of how much the gain will matter at these distances (1km radius normally - occasionally up to 3km).

Wow, where would I start if I won. I currently have no coms in my 2019 Amarock. Only bought it 5 months ago so got some work to do. First up I would go for an XRS connect 4wd pack not sure on what model yet so would definitely be asking you for advice on that one, then I'd go for a GPS personal beacon for our outback adventures, third I'd go for a set of your new hand held TX6165 radios for all those spotting and tricky 4wd sections where you need those coms outside the ute. And lastly, if theres still money to go around I'd buy my dad something for his Ranger for being such a top bloke. Trips planned once I get my ute set up are Cape York, Tasmania, the Kimberleys and Fraser Island, all places I've never been to. Always watch the boys from 4WD 24/7 go to these locations as well as yourself, in the decked out 80 series or patrol and keen to check them all out myself with my wife and two kids.

Wow a great prize ! If I had 2500 to spend on GME gear i would buy a radio and aerial combo for my 1993 Daihatsu rocky ute. I really want to do some big trips to Victoria and cape york and a uhf is my top priority for the rig. Also the piece of mind from a PLB would also fulfill my needs and satisfaction. Thanks All

Would definitely fix my radio Problem and swap it out with a XRS390C with the Bluetooth module and get a 2.1 and 8.1 DBI wips to swap out when in the different parts of NSW. I would also get a PLB for the 80 series Bus when travelling remote as well some handhelds for spotting in the 80. Then to finish it off I would get a 5G extender. Then put one in the hundo as well.
