Is it possible to not connect your phone to Wi-Fi and control the grill? Like if I’m coming back from work and I want to start it off my phone

Thanks for the message. The grill control board Built-in WiFi is what the phone application connects to for control of the grill. I forget the exact radius, but you have to be fairly close to the grill to operate it or turn off/on with the phone application. Being we are dealing with live fire, it's always best practice to be near the grill when starting up for safety. You can make sure the grill cover is off, burnpot is cleaned out for good ignition, ect.. Any other questions just let us know. Thanks!

Just bought a Davy Crockett from your store. Was trying to connect the wifi but can't get the app to connect. I have connected to the grill in my phones wifi but the app says it can't find any grills on the network.

Hey Jordan, Sounds like a glitch took place here, especially if the you had your phone connected to the GMG Wifi. Let's start by simply uninstalling the GMG App and then reinstalling. Re-pair your phone to the GMG grill WiFi network and see if anything changes with connection through the app. Happy to help. Thanks!

@@EarthSense I'll try again tonight. It didn't work right away and I was in the middle of the initial burn off procedure trying to get it to connect so I didn't want to do any power cycles in the middle of all that. I'll start fresh and see what it does.

I bought a used GMG JimBowie and I t will not Wi-Fi connect with my phone. I have uninstalled the app numerous times and have done a circuit reset and when I try to connect to the app with the serial # it tells me there is no Wi-Fi available. Even though my TV and phone are connected. Is it possible the serial # has change if they put in new parts?

Thanks for contacting us. If at any point a new control board was installed, the grill serial number would no longer work for WiFi connection. With the grill unplugged, see if there is a serial number on the front or backside of the circuit board. Keep us posted, happy to help.

What to do when you enter the 8 digit grill serial number and it still does not connect? But was connected previously about 30 minutes ago.

Thanks for contacting us Scott. Once it's connected you should not need to enter the serial number again, that is just for initial connection. If the app got deleted or reset then you would have to 'pair' again to the grill with the Serial number. I would suggest maybe doing a hard reset and starting over. Delete the GMG app and reinstall, and see if it pairs properly again. Keep us posted, happy to help.

I can’t find gmg on my WiFi on my phone I unplugged it plugged it back in still so network for gmg

Thanks for contacting us. If you are not seeing the GMG WiFi network when searching for available WiFi networks, then the control board must not be giving out a WiFi signal. First let's make sure the WiFi antenna is installed properly and the receiver where you attach the antenna is properly connected to the board. Next, With the grill unplugged, pull out the control board and inspect the circuitry on the backside. There is a small WiFi receiver probe connected, let's make sure that is in tact. My app and grill does not stay connected to wifi which is annoying.

Thanks for reaching out. Make sure the Antenna is in-tact and screwed on all of the way. Inspect the antenna port and wire connections from the port to make sure they are in-tact and secure. If you are still not getting good connectivity when you're within 20' of the grill, I would suggest re-downloading the app and reconnecting to the grill. Keep us posted, happy to help.

Thanks for the message. You would not be connecting to home WiFi. You would disconnect your phone from home WiFi while you are establishing the connection with the grill WiFi. Anytime you are using the app to monitor or control the grill you would be running off the grill's WiFi, not your home WiFi.
