It is amazing how off these smokers are (GMG). mine is also doing the same since the day I bought it. I dealt with it for some time but now its cooking temps are erratic. These grill companies should be able to set a stable and accurate grill temp with better design especially with the prices they charge. 50 degrees is not tolerable in a pellet grill. My original Trager used to cook on the money +_ 15 degrees. I killed a brisket this weekend on my Jim Bowie. I set it for 200 degrees for overnight and by morning the brisket was @ 199 in the flat and 180 in the point. it only should have been 160. The smoker must have shot up in temp way beyond 200 overnight. Thank you for the video! I am getting rid of my Jim Bowie and I ordered a new Weber SmokeFire EPX6 Wood Fired Pellet Grill, Stealth Edition.

Great video! I made the poor assumption the built in temp probe was good. I was 50 degrees off as well!

Yesterday, I set my GMG Davy Crockett to 300F. About 20 minutes into the cook, the grill display still showed 300 but the actual temp was 350-410F (350+ on the left side and up to 410 on the right of the grill) according to my laser thermometer. I was very disappointed in the variance. I google searched looking for a fix and found this video. I guess I will try the app calibration soon.

This is a side to side calibration. I don't see how it helps if the ambient temp is off in relation to the set temp.

Ambient temp in my opinion is just a variab on all pitts. you have to learn how it works and adjust to it.

This would be a great video if you Left out all the background porn music so we could hear what you're saying, and used a light in the beginning.

I agree. So much has changed and been upgraded since this one. I think I should do an update. Thanks for dropping by.

My gmg is going up on craigs list. I’m always having issues with it.

Looking at the app, it appears the calibration is done at 32F & 212F for the probes and at 150F & 500F for the grill. The other question is how long does it take for the temp to stabilize?
@EddieWrightBBQ4 жыл бұрын
About 30 mins

I have a new Daniel boone prime and have the same small oven thermometer. I set my grill to 250 and they read 200 inside grill. Has me a little concerned!

You never showed us how to actually adjust it in the app. My app has measured reading and adjusted reading which one do I use?

The adjusted

I finally got through to gmg. They said measured is where you set it at 150 then adjusted is where you set it at 350

It’s pathetic they put out a product with this poor temperature regulation. Mines the same way.

It is pretty pathetic and GMG support acts as though they have never had this problem.
