8:44 Hikaru was so close to playing the winning move. The only reason I know, is because of Levy's recap 2 weeks ago. It's hard knowing Hikaru did so well in that game, and its a draw because of a couple of moves under time pressure. Rook endgames are brutal sometimes.

@GMHikaruClips2 жыл бұрын
It's called "en passant". ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/En_passant ) If you or your opponent moves a pawn 2 squares, and it lands next to an enemy pawn, then you/they have the opportunity to take it as if it had only moved 1 square on the next move. You only have this chance to capture it on the very next move though. The rationale being that without the 'en passant' rule you could just keep your pawns back and then when your opponent puts their pawn onto your 4th rank, you can just move your pawn 2 squares and never give the opponent a chance to capture it.
@ws27692 жыл бұрын

3:56 can someone explain me how the heck that move is legal? I’m not a chess player and Have never seen that kind of play, like checkers
@doncarloancelotti22562 жыл бұрын
En passant: when a pawn (in this case Magnus) moves *two squares* forward and is adjacent/right next to the opponent pawn, the opponent can play what Hikaru did *diagonally behind* Magnus's pawn and capture it. You can only do en passant the moment it comes, you can't wait for another move afterward to play it.
