If Hikaru has played 100 games a day average for the last 20 years then it would be 700,000 games. If he played them all with different people then he would have to lose 7 games of bullet over those years for each of those 7 people to achieve 99.999% status. What's crazy about it is that that's not too far from the truth. It's very possible that he has played that many games and has only lost bullet games less than 10 times. (I know the number doesn't make sense realistically but Naroditsky is definitely in the 99'th percentile)

I believe Magnus Carlson is learning from Poker pros: you have to make dumb plays and let yourself lose on a regular basis in situations where it doesn't count for much, so that your "range" can expand and people won't know what to expect.
