Yeah his Englund Hartlaub video (1. ... e5!, dxe5? 2. d6!! exd6?? 3. Bxd6!!!) has netted me a nearly 59%W/33%L rate with black looking at my lichess stats in that set of moves. It's an absolutely mad opening.

Imma tell you guys. Old Benoni with immediate c5 is better because you don't need to learn trompowsky or anti-londons yet you still have the same traps. You can have pleasant position OR go to the benko gambit OR blumenfeld countergambit

After D4 C5 d5 what do you play?

@@jorglueke8458 Well you can play flexible with Nf6 or just get into main line old benoni with d6. After Nf6 the best move is c4 so you can go b5 and if they decline with Nc3 you can go with e6. That's Blumenfeld. Generally they all share almost the same setup. Fianchetto your bishop, castle kingside, knights to f6 and d7, go e6 one moment and in old benoni just go for b5 break. If they play Nc3 instead of c4 you play old benoni

great video Igor! Its a fun gambit to play against 1. d4. 15:20: "All of a sudden black rushed into this hasty attack on the kingside". Hasty isn't the word you want. Generally hasty means too early or poorly prepared which isn't the case here.

White has a few good systems against the Benko. You don’t see many super GMs lay it at classical time controls. I am guessing that it doesn’t have the highest win rate when you strip out weak players.

@11:15 after Qxa2 (that only takes back the pawn) Ra1 forces to trade the queen for 2 rooks and " white is down " is not so easy. I play gambits when it gives an advance in developement. Here it's not the case.

White's idea is usually to trade light-squared bishops, play a4, b3, and Nb5, and blockade Black's open file while vacating pieces from the long diagonal. After neutralizing Black's pressure, they can strive for the e5 break.
