I much prefer playing 3… d6 against the Scotch, as it prevents the Scotch and Goring Gambits. If they play the best move, 4. d5, then black should respond with 4… Ne7. From here, the plan for black should be f5, Nf6, g6, Bg6, O-O, and then create a kingside attack like in the Leningrad Dutch Defense. If white plays 4. dxe5, then black should play 4… Bg4. Then we reach a fork in the road. If white plays 5. exd6, then we transpose to an Englund Gambit with 5… Bxd6. If white develops, though, with a move like 5. Nc3, then black can trade queens with 5… dxe5 6. Qxd8+ Rxd8 or keep queens on the board with 5… Bxf3 6. Qxf3 dxe5.

7:37 If white plays Queen to g3, then what if they capture the pawn on c7 on the next move to prevent you from castling?
@firatinceoglu2187 Жыл бұрын
Then you immediately play Qxf2 and next Bg4 check, and I think there is no saving checkmate. The white Queen has to guard the f2 square.
@officialshak6354 Жыл бұрын
@@firatinceoglu2187I did think that but can’t white just move the king to D1?

Hi Igor, at 2:30 (and all other similar cases), why do we recapture the knight with the pawn, and not with the queen?
@awakenedsoul2638 Жыл бұрын
Watch it again, coach explained it so well. To open up the D File that is why you take with the D pawn so once you castle queen side or castle long, to keep threatening the F File for a potential early checkmate Black Bishop and Queen tandem at the F2 Square and controlling the H Diagonal of the Fianchetto Line of the Black Bishop threatening to take the pawn at B2 and Rook at A1 if white makes a mistake. This creates more possibilities rather than taking the knight with your Queen limiting the Queen's controlled squares.
