I think the pawns on g6 and a3 matter a lot. The g6 pawn prevents the knight from retreating to a safe defensive square and the a3 pawn prevent the night from developing to b4.

Nb4 would lose the bishop and allow a huge threat on the king, rook, and queen.

a3 not as much as g-6 IMO, but agreed that g-6 being occupied probably prompted the delayed gambit.

Seems like he went for the halloween because the best response to pawn bullying, knight G7, was blocked by opponent's pawn

This is my favorite game I've seen so far! To answer the question, chess is easy to learn buyt hard to master. Like with everything, most of your growth will be in the beginning of learning chess, but as you go on and learn more you'll get some new learning spikes.
