IMPORTANT: The warranty does not void, even if you completly open up the keyboard. In fact, they encourage it. This is very important to newer people in this hobby (just like myself). Im planning to order one once it comes into stock.

Ok, the comparisons you made to other boards was perfect! So many reviewers miss this and evaluate boards as if they exist in a vacuum. As of today, I can confirm that newer plates (brass, aluminum and pc) allow for most aftermarket stabas (including the durock v2s) without any hassle, shaving or modification to the plate or stabs, I swapped the goat stabs with the durocks in the pcb and thats it.

You are the very first one to rigorous in comparing and mentioning alternatives. Thanks for this! For some reason, no one has thought of compiling a list of 75% exploded layout keyboards. All I have found as a newbie through trial and error was the IDOBAO ID80 which was a lot more expensive, and the KBT75 which wasn't an exploded layout.

@Psil0
@Psil0 3 жыл бұрын
@@Boros777 Yes. All the number keys are used already, and you need fast access to f1-f4 to move the camera from one side of the map to the other (camera shortcuts). There's ways to change these to other key presses, but a whole lot of the keyboard is already taken. Using a fn-layer key isn't very practical since it's an extremely fast paced game and there's already a ctrl+1-2-3-4 that's used so it can get confusing. That said, I also LOVE the aesthetics of boxed 75% with function row, even if they aren't used that much.

It's REALLLLLLLY hard to say that this board is not good value for what it is. It's a GREAT starter board with some amazing potential. The value is here and the fact that you can get it in stock and immediately is something else. I see that people like to compare this with much higher end boards and that right there is everything I needed to hear. This is a great board it will continue to improve as more competition enters the market! Great review! I certainly would buy this board and I don't think any of the cons you've listed really knock it into the territory of not wanting to buy it for me - it just has so much value and availability! I say its a great buy! The KBD67 is a great option too, but my personal KBD67 feels like a toy compared to the GMMK Pro. Maybe its just the weight difference? But, I feel the build quality is superior to that of the KBD67 vs GMMK Pro. Gotta go with the GMMK Pro on this one for me!

perfectly said! i think a lot of enthusiasts criticise this keyboard very harshly (though deserved in a lot of aspects especially its marketing) but one thing it hit right on the mark is to make an entry keyboard that introduces a lot of different components and terms that the professionals use which is perfect if you want to get into the hobby! people tend to forget that this hobby is VERY subjective and boils down to personal preference. pick it up if you want to!

I was one of the people who was very critical of the GMMK Pro when Glorious first uploaded their soundests, but not necessarily because of the product itself but how Glorious marketed it (I guess we can all agree that the first soundest they uploaded was terribad). All buzzwords were there and from the first reddit post it sounded like they desperately wanted the GMMK Pro to "replace" groupbuy boards (I'm using the term replace loosely here). After all the reviews, soundests, builds and everything there is to consume as of the moment this comment is being written, I recognize the value of the GMMK Pro as an entry level custom mechanical keyboard. It offers so much value that almost no group buy board with the same layout and feature can rival it for the price that it commands. However, it is still evident that it sounds bad when used stock and there really is benefit into modifying the it. Hence, I daresay their marketing team should've simply said GMMK Pro an Entry Level Custom Mechanical Keyboard rather than the "ultra premium gasket mounted etc" stuff that they said. Then again one could argue that it's marketing and that's what they are supposed to do, but hey, I'm just calling out a product for something that it's not. It's just downright amusing how many people get so butthurt after seeing a criticism of a product from a company that prioritizes their customers so much that even an advertised 2-year warranty from "official retailers" is such a big deal.
@TheDredgenProject
@TheDredgenProject 3 жыл бұрын
There were definitely some missteps in the marketing but it would really muddle the keyboard conversation so I decided to not put it in the conversation. I decided to look at the keyboard and judge it based on its merits alone. I did remember Ben from Glorious saying that it is meant to be an entry level keyboard so I am also a bit thorn on whether we had too high of an expectation as well. However, looking at the keyboard alone, I am happy that it was produced. It goes to show that you can produce something at a relatively low price. If they can revise some minor details on it then it should be a compelling product.

I mostly agree, but I take issue with the thought process on whether customs are a worthy upgrade. Look at kbdfans... You can easily put together a full custom group buy board for under 400. Look at the Boop, Epoch (barely, bit still), D45 to name a few. And that will generally give you the option to decide what plate you have to begin with. And when you look at the prices for extras, you're really losing that perceived value from the board itself. Avg cost of a kbdfans brass plate is 30. Same from cannonkeys, several others.... Glorious gouges for 50. And then those plates are made to only properly fit their terrible stabs. They'd be better off selling the board for a slightly higher cost, making the plates durock compatible, and putting less focus on their extras.
@TheDredgenProject
@TheDredgenProject 3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm valid point! The PC plate is a bit reasonable for 20 but I think the brass is a bit too much as well. This is the issue with mass produced units since it will not be easy to mix and match plates on every kit. Though there are also some group buys that start at 400 then ramp up to 500 or 600 with add ons so it also go both ways.

@@TheDredgenProject I worry I come off like a shill or like someone who doesn't like Glorious... I love some of their stuff. I have a few of their mice, and like many people I had a couple sizes of GMMK at one point. I've become a bit cautious to get too excited about their production values, as a result though (I've had the scroll wheels break on 2 Model O's and a model D right on the axle, for example). They're *usually* pretty reasonable about honoring their warranty but it seems like some of their design flaws aren't things they like to cover. I have spent about an hour (in Valorant, so not exactly putting it through the ringer) with my nephew's Pro, and It was... okay. I agree with you that it's a perfectly good board for most people; a fine jumping off point for the hobby, and were it not for a few odd design decisions (what's up with the odd profile) I'd probably get one for myself anyway lol. Honestly, this is the most spot on review of the board yet. I was waiting for someones take to sound like this.. bc this is exactly how I felt and I dont even own a high end custom mech. I was hoping for a impressive typing experience at this price point and with the manufacturing and production that went into it... it seemed it may rise to that. Maybe I set my hopes to high. All in all, it is a very nice board and LOOKS great... but the sound is far from great.. Id say its mediocre and can sound pleasing, but not how you want. The levels of customization dont really take away or add much to the board. I found myself putting case foam back after just having taken it out.. the only thing I ended up leaving out were unncessary screws and the standoffs... So all in all, I dont think Ill get rid of it right away, but I can tell you im looking at getting something else now, bc that really just didnt satisfy the craving for feel and sound, which is my preference.

A "little" bit of plate and stabs customization dangerously puts this board's price to GB ones honestly. If you decide to get this it should be in your mind that its value is really it its stock form and not with the fuckton of customizations that you need to do (then again layout wise you really don't have a choice).
@shanfaizi9998

@@hucklejoko4838 I totally agree but in its stock form it wasn’t worth the cost imho then... with that in mind you gotta be willing to lose out to actually like the board.. notice I didn’t say love.. unfortunately. @@TheDredgenProject agreed and maybe that’s on me as a consumer for getting into the hype.. but I won’t be waiting for an R2, they got my money and if the product can’t be developed into something nice at first, and not just “doable”... @@TheDredgenProject yeah i agree it looks good, i actually like the design. The font on the back of the board is also better compared to the lazy ass kbdfans 67lite font haha. I think all the bash this board got from enthusiast is because glorious is feeling overconfident with this board (the naming of their stabs which is not GOAT at all according to all the viewer I watched etc) and also due to kbd67 lite and maybe ikki68 aurora setting the bar quite high for entry level keyboard All in all, i can see gamer using this board
