Btw for people wondering you can get custom knobs for your GMMK Pro. You can use guitar knobs which have a huge variety to choose from. Just lookout for the outer diameter of 18mm.

I stumbled upon this channel early last year. I never knew that mechanical keyboards were a hobbyist thing before. I thought that a corsair or razer keyboard was the pinnacle of keyboards and I was pretty disappointed with the lack of superior alternatives. The first video of RFP I watched was his $680 custom Grid 600 one. Now I've ordered a GMMK Pro. Already have my Black Ink switches, Durock Stabs, Suswatari Base + Monotone Keycaps, and a custom coiled aviator cable. My significant other isn't super impressed, but I'm having a blast.

@@Kiwippy I think if you don't use the four screws between the corner screws on the bottom of the board the sound will be better. I really hope someone tries that out because i think that will add more flex and really let those gaskets shine

Just started watching recently and stumbled across this and I now actually own one! Did the white build you did but with the rain forest keycaps and I’m absolutely in love but they did lube the space stabilizers too much and I think I might have to take it apart and redo it myself because yeah it is literally getting stuck sometimes when I use it. Overall though very happy with the build! Excited to get more involved with the custom keyboard world.

theory, i think glorious makes their money on everything else they're selling. the keyboard is cheap because they can sell the lube station, the switches, the keycaps. accessories basically. and that adds up a lot. like, im not going to buy the gmmk, but im buying the lube station. not going to buy their switches, but I'll buy their brush to lube the switches i am going to buy. either way, cutting corners or not, i think glorious did a great job to introduce people to this hobby, albeit in a very beginner way. but that's ok, its finally a way to get started without going to geekhack

They probably (hopefully) don't need to cut many corners and can instead rely on their larger manufacturing capacity. Bulk comes cheaper than the very limited sets we're used to with custom keebs. Taeha did say Glorious confirmed they stamp cut a few metal parts instead of customary CNC-machining. But that's internal and if it means a 200 - 300 dollar drop in price I'm on board.

This board looks great! The features it offers are stellar. The sound test could be a little bit better imo, but something telling me it might sound better without the case foam. As for the keycaps, I think they look pretty bad, and probably sound pretty bad compared to higher quality keycaps. It’s the small details they did on this board that makes it impressive, like south facing switches, pcb mount stabs, and via/qmk comparability. Those are feature you rarely see at this price point. I think I will be picking up the black one once the availability gets better.

While the 75% form factor is nice, Glorious should follow up with some more form factors. While this is more of a personal preference, I would also like to see a 96% form factor! (Since it saves space while retaining a numpad, which some pros will probably like)

I'd go so far as to say she get much more out of that keyboard than I ever could as it is designed to get out of the way of fast typists. Me? I pause to think, then look up and see a row of "aaaaaa" across the screen. But the one thing that most TKLs are still missing is the rotary encoder, and look at the knob on this one! Shoot, you're right. What was I thinking?

The japanese ones are called Keycaps PBT XDA DSA Height Standard Five-Sided Sublimation Process Keycap Compatible with GH60 / GK64 / GK61 / 68/87/104 Black and White Japanese they are sold out on amazon tho, good luck if you can find them somewhere else, maybe try searching simillar keycaps at Banggood or AliExpress

Note sure if it was mentioned in the vid but note that right Alt, FN and Ctrl keys are 1U, right Shift is 1.75U, and the R1-4 keys which are meant to be used for keys like Home, End, PgUp, PgDn, Insert, Delete - will seem a bit odd if you use the keys from a regular keycap set as those keys aren't normally uniform in size, and look like the bitcoin price chart once attached to the keyboard.
