Have to love Valve. Seeing how their product was being used by their fans to make hilarious movies but recognising how difficult it was and how long it took, Went out of their way to make a Free Animation programme that allowed you to do everything movie related that Garrys mod could do, But a lot more convenient and easy once yoy learned how it worked.

If you use rag doll mover it works really well and easy with the bone posing and with stand pose add on you can instantly freeze all of the bones all double tap r to unfreeze

i only use psygun since ragdoll mover is pretty hard for me. i love using the psygun, and it helps with practising prescision.

Really great tutorial, especially with the way it was edited. I especially liked your explanation of easing, it was short and simple but effective. Heck, I even know how hard this stuff is yet it still looks easy when you do it. I think you should have mentioned bouncing because that's just about as important as easing, and also mentioned Ragdoll Mover even if you don't use it. But, an all-encompassing Gmod tutorial would need to be many hours long so to accomplish this much in 8 minutes is doing pretty well.

I apologise for lack of knowledge, though as I'd soon like to start making gmod videos myself, I have a few questions: 1) do you just screenshot every frame and then put them all together later in video editing software? 2) also with sounds. I mean, I'm pretty sure you add those later on, though how do you edit them? Like just give a little overview on how you edit the voicelines :) and last but not least, 3) maybe add some hotkeys (if there are any?) Whether you respond or not, it's totaly fine ^^ just also wanted to mention I love your videos, and I hope you keep making them as amazing, if not better :D

Why not just use StopMotion Helper for this? It can auto create pictures for every frame, it has easing built in and can save your progress.

Relying too much on SMH looks bad though. Smooth animation is not necessarily good animation, and good animation is not necessarily smooth animation. Also SMH's easing kind of sucks. However even for frame by frame animation like this, I think SMH should be used just to store every frame. It will look the same, but that way you can go back and correct things or add frames. Save your progress, as you said.

Kamiflage Yeah, what I meant by my comment is that it can take the little tedious things out, losing progress while animating something is the most frustrating thing in the world, especially for me since GMod doesn't seem to be very stable on my system with crashes every 6 hours or so. Also, you can stylize the animation through editing to bring back that stop motion feel.

I definitely agree, I just see too many people use SMH as a crutch (ie only doing a beginning and end frame, then interpolating between. Awful and lazy, though smooth) so that's what my argument was for but honestly I'm really tired and shouldn't be commenting right now lol.

Glad i'm learning animation. Learning 3d modeling and animation and 2d animation so these videos are great to learn from. I never realized until you said it that you should make the head move when talking. I never realized that you always move your head when talking and not just moving your mouth. Great small tips. Once i'm good enough it would be fun to try and do a 2d animation in a gmod video for fun. Though it's would be stupidly hard to put an animation over an animation
