One of the main reasons there are so many ancient deco solutions and wack design choices is because even the updated Yamato is an ancient build. Yamato was built almost 5 years ago as a non combat meme ship that crashed Marts computer at the time. He only updated it last month for his latest video, and even then it was mostly for the meme. It's only purpose was to brute force the last couple factions in his Neter campaign.

For the smoothing of edges: not every edge you show off should be smooth. Some of them are very rightfully 90 degree angles. It’s just really hard to tell because of the unfinished look of this build

@@littletimelord2755 well it’s not Minecraft, we have many options and I will show you some deco tips that hopefully will improve the looks according to all 🤞
@darthkarl9917 күн бұрын
@@GMODISM What he's getting at is that some of the 90 degree edges are 90 degree edges on the actual yamato IRL, and the layout is built to match that. A lot of the sue of skinny turret necks falls into that category as well, the form factor of the turrets and the bits they sit on is decided by the aesthetics of the real ship, so if you want a reasonably big and powerful weapon you have to bury the guts or they're either not going to fit or be completely unarmoured. Honestly a lot of the ships issues IMO are as much down to the fact that it's just too big. Just a basic minimum 1 layer of metal outer shell matching the aesthetics is going to cost a small fortune and that pushes everything else to be similarly oversized which creates issues with big expensive systems having to poke out onto the deck through small mounting points.

19:59 I never noticed it in the froggo’s original video, but *fin-stabilized HESH?* Fin-stabilized projectiles by definition do not spin and are fired out of smooth bore barrels (or have special adapters on the shells themselves), and HESH specifically works well with rifled barrels (as the rotation of the shell allows the soft explosive cap to spread out over the armour before detonating). Wouldn’t fin-stabilized HESH drastically reduce its effectiveness?
@EdyAlbertoMSGT319 күн бұрын
You could angle the fins soo the projectile spins, though im not sure how effective that would be.

On the final point relating to EMP, while I don't necessarily agree with leaving a LWC unprotected on one side, it is still likely to be one of the last blocks on that turret that gets targeted by an EMP surge, only because the surge protectors would draw several surges to them first, and EMP can't backtrack so it wouldn't want to 'waste' damage potential by having to go through a rubber block. In short, not as severe of a mistake as you make it out to be, but still not advisable for long-term survivability of the turret, and it is still vulnerable to a micro-surge.
@GMODISM18 күн бұрын
I see what you mean, however perhaps I failed explaining that but what I tried to say is that if emp hits the hull, for example under the ship via torpedo, the surge will go for the lwc first, when it hits the turret however its safe-ish!

About the "Large Male's" CIWS: ive seen some designs on larger craft using HE bodies to increase the targetted DPS against small salvos of larger missiles. The theory is the higher damage of the HE body will be more valuable against a few large targets as opposed to a full munition defense shell which would damage larger groups of tight salvos but may be made up of many small to medium missiles. Personally, id still build different. I don't recommend using explosive rounds under 60mm as a dedicated anti munition system. A multirole maybe, as you can spread out a little dps and HE bodies aren't terrible for adding weight to a kinetic tip but for explosive rounds i prefer a larger gauge and drop a lot of propellant.
@GMODISM18 күн бұрын
@@ryokkeno it’s true HE has a larger damage, but the laser targeter is not so accurate the effective damage is usually less than using MDBs due to limited range, relying on HE is generally smart in they also double as regular damage dealers.
@ryokkeno18 күн бұрын
@GMODISM oh, i agree. I actually don't use the laser targeter unless it's a full Munition Defense round. As you say, it's not accurate enough between the targetter itself, the detection equipment on the defending craft, and especially multi role CIWS. For my slower velocity flak rounds, though, they fuse close enough to be worth it. Bigger bore, dedicated anti-aircraft guns are the only thing I'd really be that interested in time fusing and that's usually a round big enough to hurt something with some weight behind it where it's more valuable to make some degree of contact over a potential near miss. Speaking of missing, if it is a dedicated anti Munition system, most of the rounds should be making contact anyway. I hesitate to declare it perfect accuracy, but my experience with even slower projectiles is they tend to smack right into incoming CRAMS and missiles. Hmm, that gives me an idea for a test...

13:00 i actually have a technique for you to consider for dealing with chain reacting turrets. Most APS systems have as many ammo loaders as they have clips/autoloaders, which means they actually _don't_ rely on ammo storage at all, as the loaders can reload as fast as the autoloaders can fire. It's a laibility. You can use a combination of breadboard and ACBs to configure the ammo loaders to only load a few shells per clip, which should reduce the size of the munition chain reaction. Obviously this is much more effective for smaller shells, as big shells don't fit as many in the clips anyway.

While I'm excited to see what can be improved the tone is bit off? It's like "you don't do all the meta speedrun strats why even bother" That ship may not be most efficient one, but it did do it's job of fighting base game enemies, not optimised community crafts as you end up playing into ever evolving "meta" of any multiplayer game. Like the argument about the CRAM health, sure your LAMS packed ship will destroy them so "it's dead weight", but from my testing as I, a rather low skilled individual, were doing my own refit of original museum piece I did not see anything that could shoot those shells down, including the seemingly overpowered system of this very ship itself. (note: my goal was to see how it floats and how fast it goes without usage of alloy after Martin complained about his version being slow, but laggy if you use air pumps on such large hulls)

It’s a great design and I feel it longs to shine ✨ I’m not much into meta building too much, if you wanna see meta see the aps clip nuke mass driver turret I showed in a recent vid. Anyhow, with some 2k hours there are so many things that one can’t unsee, I feel this large ship has a awesome original 2020 project that didn’t quite get finished, and I want it to shine as I think Martin intended when he originally started on this great project!

@@GMODISM I do not look for meta either, Just one can't expect perfection from a refit done on stream to a old design that couldn't even move. Perhaps I'm just not used to your tone, and that's ok.
