GMRS Repeater From Junk - Will This Work At All?

Another good, interesting video Darrell, thanks. On the 6m subject, I recommend the Sirios SY 50-3, 3 elem yagi. They are made in Italy, very good performer on air, and what sold me was the robust mechanical build/design. Amazon has them about as cheap as anyone, plus good pics and description. 73 wd9m

I have been interested in building a GMRS repeter at my house. where do you fine some older radios to work like yours?

Ebay is a good play to start. You can also check some radio shop in your area for some older radios they would like to get rid of. Thank you for the comment.

Question: What do I need to look for when shopping for Used Kenwood for repeater?? Like model #

For Kenwood, Look for two radios that will program, or made to be programmed for the frequencies you want to use. Make sure they have the accessory cables like the ones I have in the video. I'm not a kenwood user so I'm not sure of what models to suggest. For Motorola same as Kenwood, but you want the radios to have the 16 pin accessory connector. Maxtrac, Radius, Gm300, etc are good candidates. Thank you for the comment.

You probably got it fixed off camera, but looked like the TX radio may have been accidently programed to the RX frequency. 18:45 in video.... I'll admit I've managed to do the same thing once or twice and then roll my eyes at myself. 🤣
