GMRS Tower Install - It's complete!!!

Well, the tower is up and running and here is the video tying it all together. There may be some other videos about parts of it down the road... maybe the other antennas and other things we might be adding.

Mine was built with all used sections. The only thing new was the hinged base plate and the antenna.

As they say, height is might. Nice setup. I just stumbled across your channel this morning. I think you're slightly out of range from me in Converse, TX. But with our HOA, I plan to put an Ed Fong antenna in the attic and eventually a good dual band too, for 2M 70cm. Keep up the good work.

Great video. Glad you are finished with this job! Question: since the winch wire is metal and attached to the metal tower and the winch to a tree, do you also have to ground the winch? If tower is hit by lightning, wouldn't it travel to the winch and tree as well? - Ed

So, the winch is actually a nylon-ish rope... The section I added (about 15 feet) was wire so we should be golden. GREAT question tho!!!

A solid 35 miles out... hills to the north limit some service that direction tho. It's flat to the south and west so we might get a bit further in that direction.

@@MCTGMRS78009 that’s cool 👍🏻 well that’s quite a bit of range for 25 watts. Once you get a full 50 watts I bet you will get 40-50 miles

For a battery supply for extra juice, try using a running riding lawnmower and jump to its battery instead of a truck. My buddy W5SSS does it on his tower that holds a large tri beam.
