I think this is a type of product unless you try it out, you would not know how convenient it is. As a wedding and travel photographer, I had the first-gen as well and it is absolutely amazing. As soon as I leave the wedding I am backing up, so I create another copy of all the images, even if I don't bring a laptop to wherever the wedding is I can still send sneak peeks. When I'm travelling, sometimes even in humid places like in Asia, I am always worried about SD cards being ruined, but this I can have peace of mind. Thank you guys for amazing review had fun just watching it lol

Exactly what I was thinking...great for wedding photographers so you can backup everything before you leave the event. Especially, if your the primary shooter and you have a 2nd shooter. You don't have to worry about getting those files later and sometimes dealing with the back-and-forth we've already seen when working with a 2nd shooter trying to upload or download files online.

thanks for the kind words! We don't JUST make phone lenses - we shoot and support many cameras with gear and products on our shop. Of course, we started with phone lenses and will always love cell phone cameras, but we are all just a bunch of camera nerds who like to shoot on different cameras.

Super expensive. Probably for the outdoors mucky adventure types. I can back up via ipad now and edit on the go with lumafusion and a standard ssd.

@@MariusIhlar Hi Marius. IOS 13 allows the use of external drives. I can move footage to the Ipad for editing in Lumafusion via the USB adapter then back the project up to a large flash drive.

@@MariusIhlar Yes. Or a card reader via Apple USB connector. (Must have battery to power or via charger on 2018 ipad.) The Ipad pro can connect directly via USB C but I only have 2018 standard ipad.

Well it is a 1TB SSD drive with more so not horrible at under $1k

Not sooooo horribly high, tbh. Sure, it's 1k but you have to remember what it gives you. Like, it's a mini PC with automated back-up. You do not have to bring a PC with you etc, also it's like 1TB. Compared to my convertible, which was around 300 + 1TB SSD + Card Reader (UHS-II) we'll look at 450 total - for a MUCH bigger set up. So, I'm half that when I'm ready. As I said, 1k is not a small price, but I do think that it's a reasonable price 😅

Exactly what my wife is looking for as a 'primary' or 'backup - 2nd shooter' at a wedding. Thanks for the video/review.....will be doing a bit more research but looks like a good option for her. She's getting into the wedding photography business and this would eliminate having to transfer files (online or to the cloud) so the other photographer can receive them (which can often be a headache of its own as we're finding out). Just get all the data at the event site and done. Thanks again!

Moment app native support in Gnarbox app and vice versa lets go! Plus batch importing to lightroom mobile and camera roll. Also proxy editing inside of lightroom mobile while gnarbox is connected kinda like the add tool and editing from the drive not the storage of the ipad or device like lightroom classic. :) & instant dual boot mode to get plug-in play without switching modes in the app.

The problem with these is that, we shouldn’t just be relying on one. Learning from mistakes, I had a seagate version of this, a very reputable brand that gave me a lot of trust. After backing it up onto a hard drive and formatting the card, the hard drive failed on me. I don’t recommend any one to format their card during a shoot. I would recommend having 2 back ups though. So it would be ideal to have 2 of these which for the price, I imagine people won’t see much worth. Or even one and still backing it up on a computer which defeats the point of being light and mobile. It’s great that it’s so strong though. Although mine failed via a firmware/software fail and would have cost me over £500 to recover data. We trust technology far too much sometimes 😂

I agree! I think a good feature they could add is the ability to backup the internal drive to an external drive to make the second copy.... then I would free better about formatting as cards!

I can see why someone might need this. But for most people the price is so high that it might make more sense getting an iPad Pro to select and edit on the go. Or I can just make one myself using Raspberry Pi and an 128GB SD card.

You think is a smart practice to have no back up? To me there is not much difference having only one file either on an sd card or on a narbox. My preferred workflow would be saving it to my narbox and eg. a T5 ssd, having atleast 2 copies?

Ok use case: I'm working on a C200 and 1DX2 - neither offer easy transfer of images or video while actually on shoots. Forget wifi transfer. So being able to throw a card into this and then effectively make the material shareable and back it up - that's great. Also people here saying buy a load of SD cards, well… CF Fast cards cost more than this and being able to transfer material from a CF Fast, then recycle the card on the same shoot. Yeah I like it. But feels like more suited to the pro user at this price point.

Kalpesh Patel I agree how hard is it for the manufacturer to have a lcd screen built in and not have to use your IPhone to see an image. The whole object of this is to not have a laptop iPad and iPhone. I have a ton of SD cards but I still like to back up while in the road.

Is there coming 2tb model, does it support BRAW encoding to mov, can I load materials from Samsung T5 SSD to this? My workflow would be to have this as the first to load on when on field, especially if I run out of my 1tb ssd, and ro encode it to the mov for proxy.

in most situations just carrying more SD cards is going to be cheaper and take up less space. You don't have the ability to view and edit your photos in the field but I would rather edit from a computer in my car/house/coffee shop. cool little device tho.
