Congrats on 100K! 16:00 I appreciate you are using a relay so mains isn't exposed, however you shouldn't remove the switch box as per National Electrical Code, reason is that if there were some sort of spark created behind the switch (even if you are using a relay!) it's a fire hazard I don't know if you live in the USA, but doing electrical work to NEC spec is mentioned in some way/shape/form in every US state's law, often requiring electrician licenses to do this sort of thing. I don't mean to poop on your neat project, it looks cool, I just hope you be safe!

unfathomable props to being able to do that narration in the cardboard cube head, i would get discombobulated so fast... also, to be perfectly honest, i say if you have a job that's stable and it doesn't suck your soul (which it seems not since the vibes i'm getting is that on this channel you basically do your job but for free and in minecraft when you're off the clock anyway...), NEVER do youtube fulltime. being a content creator as a job probably works well for some, but it also eats people whole. having a job that supports you well and gives you good benefits is basically the _real_ "american dream" right now. let your real fans stick by you no matter what you make. real fans like you for you and what you do, and we'll watch whatever you want to make because we're invested in your creative vision! also, insane lore drop that gneiss was a nuke electronics tech in the navy.

Hi! I dont usually comment that often, but I wanted to say a few words! I only recently found your channel because I've recently gotten back into minecraft again (for like the 8th time). I am a life science student myself and I just LOVE how your channel dives into the science and logic behind minecraft! It's a very fun to learn, and it helps that youre actually someone with a lot of minecraft knowledge, instead of some underpaid intern working for microsoft trying to put something together with a 3 day deadline. You're just a guy, talking about science and sharing what he loves! And your minecraft commandblocking goes CRAZY!!! As someone who has been playing minecraft for 15 years, I almost dropped on the floor when I suddenly saw you shrink and THEN move an entire stretch of mountain... In a social climate where everything is dialed up to 6,022*10^26 for clicks and views, your personality and just down to earth attitude is very refreshing. And your looks on quality over quantity and clickbait are great!! Please take your time with every episode and make sure you upload it once you actually believe it's finished! (Nothing has to be perfect, ofc make sure you dont burn yourself out over it!) Life is very busy and I couldnt imagine having to juggle both a youtube channel and a job at university... So take all the time you need! Your content has already sticked so much with me, I will be looking forward to any video you'd like to share with us! Hope this isnt weird or anything. Again, I never really comment on video's. But I just wanted to tell you to just do what you wanna do AND science it up!

hey gneiss, quick tip: especially now that its a low voltage low power system you'll probably want to add some kind of corrosion inhibitor to the contacts, this should help it keep the look it currently has and avoid some issues down the line, adding a graphite-based dry lubricant might also be a good idea to make it operate smoothly

Congrats on the 100k and continued channel journey. Regarding the switch, I kinda wish the lights turned off when the knife level seated into the opposite contact. Obviously a more complicated circuit than your relay, a kind of denounce circuit. There is something more visceral about reaction (light turning off) when the user completes their action, then right at the start of the action.

Gneiss, I mean this as earnestly as possible. I genuinely come to little(big) corners of the internet like yours in order to see what people are doing that they love. not in the "i love monetizing my hobby" way in most cases, but the very honest and open style your content has. I would prefer people take less frequent and "optimized" upload schedules in favor of the creators health first and the quality of the content, in that order. I'm very glad to hear your personal philosophy on content creation, and I'm commenting to vocalize I support that entirely.

Thanks. Doing this I can see how easy it is to fall into the trap of sacrificing your ethics for money. If you are doing this for a living and you get an offer for $1500 to talk about a VPN its hard to not do that. If anything i have more sympathy for smaller content creators trying to make it. I am privileged enough to still call this a hobby.

@gneissname I have disdain for sponsored segments but the "family/life to support" thing is something I never lose memory of, so I understand it. In light of the recent honey sponsorship scam controversy, I feel it's going to only get worse for the creators that rely on that funding. All of that said, I'm happy you have stable income with good benefits in this economy and environment. And grateful that you share this hobby with us all.

Loved hearing about some of your plans, lots of exiting stuff to look foward to. When you mentioned making a video about things you would change about Minecraft geology, i wanted to ask you if you ever thought about making or commissioning a mod that changes the world, ores, and such to align more with the real world, while being more vanilla than something like Terrafirmacraft. You worked with nuclear power? you really could do a video talking about some of you life experiences in different fields because its quite inspiring how much stuff you know. Wish you and your family the best, take care.

I have greatly enjoyed watching your content! It combines two things I love: rocks and Minecraft (gaming in general, really). Keep up the gold work, my guy!

I would be very excited to see more geology videos looking at other games! (Though practically whether I end up watching each one might depend on my interest in that game. Dwarf Fortress would be *incredible*, though) I also would absolutely love to see that nuclear power video. I'm one of those nerds who's periodically furious at how kneecapped nuclear energy is (particularly in the US) thanks to its cultural history and the absolute mountain of misconceptions about its safety and just how it works.

i cant believe he actually just looks like that irl. wow! Edit: i also wanna say, your "geology with minecraft" videos are honestly my favorite videos of yours (not that i dislike the others) even if its not through minecraft perse, i (and probably a substantial amount of the people watching you) know next to nothing about geology. learning about it is fascinating, ive never felt like ive know the rock we are all stranded on called earth all that well beforehand. really fascinating stuff! cant wait to see more, be it in minecraft or something else!

I took a geology course in college as a random elective: Teacher sucked, was just there to collect her paycheck. I've gotten more enjoyment and learning value from this channel, in fewer hours/minutes spent, than that entire course. You deserve the success... For those about to Rock & Stone, we salute you!

If you are using premier I would recommend switching to DaVinci Resolve. No subscription, no crashes, and just better overall. It just takes some getting used to. And also congrats on the milestone! Amazing work you are doing

I love geology and I can definetly say that your videos have increased my interest even further. There's always something new to learn! And GG:s on 100k subscribers :D P.s. have you seen the bettergeo mod? It's made by SGU (Sweden's geology research thing) and it adds a lot of geology stuff into minecraft P.s 2.0: What a cool light switch! It's looking real heavy duty
