14:26 I want to point out the difference here between Cam and Mertz. Cam looks calm, cool, and collected even in the face of 3 defenders bearing down on him. He doesn't panic. Mertz looked lost and confused for most of this game, even when not under immediate pressure.
@goatpower3212 ай бұрын
What makes this so frustrating is that the way mertz was acting should’ve been how Cam was in a hostile environment. If Mertz can’t handle a home game against number 19, then I’m afraid what’ll happen on the road against teams like Texas

Looking at this breakdown, I think our defense wasn't necessary bad its just we got no pressure on ward that whole game. I think later on in the game our secondary got tired and thats why Ward started dotting up in the middle of the field. Sometimes I wonder if these exotic defense of looks are hard to understand for younger players like castell?
@TheGatorNationFootballPodcast2 ай бұрын
Castell has a habit of playing too safe on the backend, imo .

@@TheGatorNationFootballPodcast Very much agree. Has so much potential, however, he is so passive back there.

On the play where the guys got thrown to the ground by Miami TE Arroyo, it wasn't Bryce Thornton (#18), it was LB RJ Moten (#16). I don't think Thornton played in the game but RJ Moten played for 26 snaps.

I think our defense played better than last year but still not disiplined. I think they have been taught how to do it right, but the staff is not being assertive in their communication. They are probably afraid players will transfer if you yell at them. Like a child calling DCF if you punish them.

Mertz missed two td’s and the defense had two bad roughing the passer penalties that turned into td’s. this was an absolute failure on all levels in terms of bad offensive play design and bad execution by the players. players year 2 in the system keep regressing. thats not good!!

Ward had a great game, for sure. I think Slackman played lights out for the Gators, and was impressed with the teamwork between Miami and their refs in not calling any of the ... dunno, dozen? ... holds that he somehow managed to escape. But the secondary just makes the same mistakes over and over. Hopefully the SEC refs will be a little more fair with calling holding so that our defensive line can get some traction over the next couple of games and help out the daisy gazers in the back end.
