Yelan planned a deep reaching investigation into the former owner, but Childe got there first, demanded payment of the owner's debt and was the one to uncover the accounting fraud of the previous owner who then could get thrown in jail, so Yelan could easily take over. People most likely focus on "clues" or dialogue because hoyoverse will most likely never directly confirm a ship being canon. There are plenty of reasons why ppl ship characters examples such as eimiko with the novel of yae giving mouth to mouth to raiden, beigguang with their scenes and the "compensation" voice line, eulamber with their scenes during the event and the ice bath dialogue, etc. Ofcourse, this goes the same for straight ships and im not saying that the ships I mentioned are canon because of their scenes together, I'm just saying that we just can't invalidate people's reasons for liking a ship.
