My thoughts exactly. Deino represents someone with a weak willpower, someone who's easily coerced and/or manipulated - in other words, a doormat. This also explains its blindness, in a way - not only is Deino blind in a literal sense, but it's also blind to its own complicity. Zweilous represents assertiveness - with its newfound power, it can start to throw its weight around. But this results in a sort of internal conflict, since the Pokemon doesn't know what it should do with the power it wields. You know how sometimes people say, "Part of me wants to hug you, and the other part of me wants to slap you", or something to that effect? Well, it's sort of like that; These two opposing ideologies results in a literal split personality - thus, the second form. Consequently, the second head isn't entirely new, but partially created from the original brain. Hydreigon represents a sort of epiphany. One of the heads has realized that their constant squabbling is getting them nowhere, and has essentially extended an olive branch to the other head. The head that "eats the most" is the one to grow enough brainpower to come to this realization. And since they reached this realization first, they become the "leader". Once this happens, the two brains are reunited. Through this struggle and eventual compromise, they've both been made stronger, and now combine their efforts towards a common goal of self-improvement. If you'll pardon the pun, they literally "put their heads together".

I have an argument. You have a great point but there is another possibility. It is possible that Zweilous' both consciousness finally were able to agree with one another. With friendship and cooperation from the two heads, they get stronger thus evolving. Their consciousness merge and form a new head with both their minds combine. Their old heads become the HyDreigons arms. The dragon-arm-heads don't have brains anymore because they decided to merge and become one

I've always seen it's violent nature as something else. Hydreigon is my favorite pokemon, so naturally i did a lot of speculation. It becomes violent because in its first two evolutions it was blind. As a deino it kept bumping into things and getting injured, which memories it retains as a hydreigon. As a zweilous the two heads fight about which one will be the leader. Upon evolving to hydreigon the dominant heads concious takes over the others, and the memories merge back together. It gains sight, and everything is new. The pain it had as deino causes it to think everything is out to hurt it, and it becomes violent out of self defense.

Then once it gets comfortable (usually by a caring trainer), it mellows out and becomes super adorable (I had my Hydreigon out on a stroll in the DLC and any time I interacted with it, it would cutely flail about). So Hydreigon not only has to process everything they're currently seeing, but also everything they've seen as a Deino and a two-headed Zweilous? No wonder it's always lashing out, it's dealing with sensory overload times three. I wonder if trainers who have a Hydreigon need to keep them in a low sensory environment or have them wear some kind of special goggles until they can adjust to their new eyes and mellow out. Immediately sending them out to battle after evolving would only make them more stressed and could be seriously dangerous.

Old topic now, but here's a counter point: Maybe the eating is actually to store enough energy to grow the third head in the middle. Instead of being absorbed and vanishing, both sets of brains come together in the new head leaving the shriveled heads as arms. The dominant part of each brain is then integrated, leaving the Hydraegon less than what it was before the first evolution.

Um... didn’t it talk about Hydreigon trying to kill everything? Wouldn’t it make more sense for the two brain’s fusion to cause this chaotic behavior? I know it killed randomly before, but that was due to fear and blindness. Now Hydriegon had eyes. And those forearms had to go somewhere, you really think that a random identical head popped out and the forearms just vanish? No way. It is a possibility. But there is also in-game, a Zweilous that is a murder machine to it's core. Well, it's a Hydreigon when you meet it, but Ghetsis' backstory includes when his Zweilous tried to kill him. Now, I wouldn't blame it for any reason (kinda wish it succeeded, and that led to N's start of darkness. Maybe in an alternate reality?), but it fits with Zweilous just being a hate-filled glutton, too.

Donny kuswoyo That’s exactly right. Archie and Maxie look like kids who throw toilet paper into people’s trees on Halloween in comparison to Ghetsis. The man was a true psychopath. And if you didn’t notice, every one of Ghetsis’ Pokemon team were chosen to be super effective against one of each of N’s Pokemon team. As in, Ghetsis was planning on backstabbing N from the start. Details like that are what makes Black and White (and their sequels) my favorite Pokémon games of all time. I can only hope that Gamefreak decides to go back to that darker story and tone style again some day.

Naw, the story of the Deino line is tragic and full of murder, but in a different sense. Deino's singular brain is split and grows considerably when becoming Zweilous, and we know these two heads are super competitive with each other. Eventually the two heads combine again into a new brain, which is probably why hydreigon is way way more violent. All that brain matter that was once used between two competing consciousnesses is now all pushed into one brain and one personality, and the process might be messy. But this whole evolution is the tale of little emo kid, who is afraid and scared and lashes out but just ends up hurting itself more. It learns to be angry, and becomes more destructive before eventually developing a hatred for everything that once hurt it so it constantly is violent, enacting a sort of revenge. Basically, don't come to the pokemon academy once deino is level 50.

Perhaps, the brain splits into two hemispheres during the Zvielos Phase, then fuse back together again. We already know of people who have their hemispheres split, and it is like one side of the body is competing against the other. Perhaps it is like magnemite, magneton, and magnezone. All of what you said should be true... for wild Hydragons. Because, in the wild, food is a constant competition. Yet, when being cared for by a trainer, this competition shouldn't really exist. Especially if you recognize which head was the original when you evolved it, and you want it to succeed, then as a trainer you would specifically feed that head more, forcing the original head as the leader. So no, unless you had intentionally ignored the original head, you shouldn't have to murder it, it's your choice as a care taker. Plus, seeing as how, under a trainer's care, an evolved Deino keeps the same nature throughout, then it's safe to assume that in gamez where you are the good protagonist, you always show the most care to the original head, as in game it's Nature doesn't change when evolved.

You're born as a mere appendage of another person, with whom you cannot coexist, and your master consistently favors this built-in rival over you- culminating in your death for the sake of further empowering said rival. It's still murder, even if the victim isn't the original. What if there is some Jekyll and Hyde style procedure happening from Deino to Zweilous? It doesn't make sense for the pokémon to sprout a new consciousness so the Deino's brain could divide into two upon evolving so each brain has a different and contrasting personality which would explain the fighting and lust for control. This could also allow for both to rejoin each other into Hydreigon after accepting its differing personality and reach its true power. But I'm just looking to save my cute Deino's soul

your theory kind of revolves around the assumption that A: by "leader" they *do* mean full control and not just calling the shots as you put it, and B: that the merging of the two heads is impossible because of the assumption that the two heads are physically impossible of getting along. which i really dont agree on that second part because evolution is about growth, primarily in terms of strength but also in terms of personality, like how a cowardly little wimpod becomes a more confident golisopod, so i dont think its impossible for the two heads to grow to not completely hate each other, and become one being in the process

I like to think that almost all of the time, the two heads are on a really debated discussion and are always trying to be better with the objective to destroy each other, and in the final they both give up at this plan and start to like each other and evolve and fuses its brains to evolve and make everything better and easier, with an objective: Work together to make their trainer proud, or an attempt to kill their trainer because of hate. Also because ghetsis' hydreigon has the move frustration, which gets stronger the more the pokemon hates its trainer. However Ghetsis is specialized in brainwashing people and pokemon, like he did with N. And he could pretty much do that with hydreigon too

I agree with this. Is it not possible that neither of the heads in Zweilous have a brain at all? It's stated that Deino is blind and that Zweilous' heads compete with each other to see which will be dominant. But what if its brain is in its body and the two "heads" are just hands? Considering the fact that it is blind, I'd think it's possible that it doesn't even know that the hand it's competing with is its own. It's only when it becomes hydreigon that its actual head sprouts up

I think the two zweilous heads are like the two hemispheres of the brain. Research into split brain people has shown that the two halves can have separate personalities. When it evolves, the two halves become one.

Actually it is pronounced dino since that evolution line's names are the first three German numbers. Ein is pronounced I -N not like in. Zwei is pronounced zewhy. And drei is pronounced dry.

Alright, so hypothetically speaking, what would happen if both heads are fed the same amount, assuming that you can make sure that neither head takes the other's food? What would happen then? What sort of evolution would that result in? ...Assuming that a Hydreigon's mind isn't just the two minds fused together, which would explain their more violent nature, as neither mind would be in total control, thus leaving Hydreigon body to run on pure instincts as the two minds battle, possibly only recognizing the trainer's orders, since that's something both minds know and recognize as friendly?

You know, when this video started, the dialogue was leading me to believe the topic would be "Breejects". Pokémon, typically still at level 1 and newly hatched, who had been bred to contain superior IVs, Nature, Ability, and Moves, but they don't perfectly meet one or more of these requirements so they are released into the wild. If the Pokémon is also being bred to be shiny, then this process can take exponentially longer, leading to hundreds of newly hatched Pokémon that will never be trained by their hatcher and probably released immediately. Sure, for the most part, these "baby" Pokémon (not sure on the ruling of a level 1 Kangaskhan, for example) would still have, in general, a vastly superior movepool, special ability, and better physical potential than nearly every wild Pokémon just on average. However, these Pokémon are freshly hatched, level 1, and in many cases, most likely not in an area that would be considered a natural habitat both by species AND by natural wild level. The Pokémon Snorlax, for example, while it does have a baby form, is most easily hatched directly as a Snorlax due to an item requirement while breeding that only makes nature and stat breeding more difficult if used. A Snorlax, not being native to Unova, for example, can still be bred in their daycare. What would happen if suddenly 100 Snorlax were released into the wild of Unova? This is a Pokémon that only eats and sleeps, it would promptly consume everything in the area until satisfied, go to sleep, and do it all over again until something stopped it. The scariest part is that the daycare in Unova is in the lowest level area of any breeding daycare in any game, if I recall correctly, so having several hundreds, dozens, or even a single genetically superior (though possibly in some few ways competitively inferior) Snorlax could completely dominate its surroundings. On top of that, being an invasive species with no natural predators, any non-native Breeject could potentially explode in population and totally snuff out the natural wildlife. Once again thinking of Unova (since it's the easiest target for this, thanks to both the low wild level Pokémon near the daycare, and the extremely limited regional Pokedex that basically canonically neglects about 6/7ths of the entire Pokedex), the 3 useless starter knockoff monkeys, sage, pour, and sear, are all relatively inferior type-swapped versions of the Chimchar family in respects to simian design, stat distribution, movepool, and abilities. What would happen if several hundred genetically superior Chimchar were suddenly thrust into an environment that supports the growth of strong and fast little monkeys so much that the region has 3 types of them? Chimchar would thrive, ESPECIALLY if the Breejects in question were being bred to contain the move Thunderpunch. Suddenly any competition with the other monkeys is no contest, Chimchar would win consistently and only become stronger and faster in doing so. And since the Unovan monkeys are stone evolutions, they are not as easy to evolve as Chimchar and Monferno that evolve purely through levelling up, so eventually the power creep would overwhelm the 3 useless monkeys of Unova. And don't say these numbers are an exaggeration, I personally have over 800 Pumpkaboo and never even got my shiny, so I ultimately gave up. If it had been any other Pokémon I would have released them all, but since they are Pumpkaboos I just Wonder Trade a ton of them on Halloween with the message "Happy Halloween". But the point is, Breejects seems like a way more devastating concept. You can even turn it to a genocide argument depending on which daycare and which species of Pokémon is being released, and even on which specific PC is used to release them to determine what wild Pokémon are nearby (Suddenly 1000 wild level 1 Cleffas are released near Victory Road and just completely slaughtered by the wild Durants, for example).

My personal theory is that while the two Zweilous heads are eating as much as they can, they are actually unknowingly fueling a third, latent consciousness that finally usurps those original heads when Zweilous evolves. While watching the video, I came up with a different hypothesis. What if it's a metaphor for development and self-realisation. Deino is the insecure, unrealised child, thus being blind. Zweilous is the inner struggle as it tries to realise its place, thus sporting two opposing heads symbolising identity confusionon. This could also fit with whatever head eating the most being the dominant one, as whatever identity is "feed" the most becomes the dominant one. Hydreigon would then be the fully realised and matured Pokémon, having found its place in the world and thus not being blind anymore further more having one mind. This hypothesis isn't really totally thought through or anything, just an idea that I think generally fits the data, but I haven't really sad down with all the pieces, just came up with it after watching the video. I'm open to any feedback that might support, improve, or oppose the idea

I have a different theory: I always thought that the heads merged, but after being so hostile to one another and developing disparate personalities this forced merging of brain tissue and consciousness drove it insane, explaining why Hydreigon is so vicious: its mind is filled with two chaotic and conflicting consciousnesses, so it is driven by rage and territoriality. To further this theory, as you've said yourself in other videos, Dex entries seem to apply more to wild Pokemon than trained ones. My theory is that the player character is aware of what happens when wild Deino and Zweilous evolve and wants to circumvent that. So how do they do it? By taking the time to properly care for, feed, and mentally prepare their Pokemon for the evolution and mind merge. This is backed up by both the ridiculously high levels these dragons evolve at and the fact that your Hydreigon seems calm when compared to its Pokedex description; it enjoys being hand-fed and pet by its trainer. Breaking it down by Pokemon: Deino takes so long to evolve because the trainer is working to build up a bond with it in order for Deino to trust it during the Zweilous phase. This is likely done through getting the dragon used to your scent, training it out of attacking on contact, and properly feeding and caring for it. When it finally trusts you (level 48) your character feels confident enough to evolve it. As a Zweilous, the groundwork laid as a Deino starts to pay off. Since you got it to trust you as a Deino, you can use this bond to get the heads to work together rather than compete, syncing their minds and better preparing them for the inevitable mind merge. By coordinating rather than competing, the heads can develop a sense of camaraderie, allowing them to be more effective. Hydreigon: thanks to your patience, once Zweilpus evolves the mind merge (while still a shock) does not break its mind, instead you have a loyal, relatively well-adjusted companion that is not driven by mindless, maddening rage, but a proper partner. This fits in much better with the theme of Pokemon and the player characters caring for them. This also explains Ghetsis' "underleveled" Hydreigon. Lacking your character's empathy and caring nature, he'd just want to evolve his as soon as physically possible, disregarding the Pokemon's mental health. Thus he wouldn't go through all the tedious prep work as detailed above and would get the final stage sooner, at the cost of its sanity (which is backed up by his Hydreigon's max-power Frustration).

If I was in PETA I would be really excited about a game like this because it shows that you can choose what actions you take and whether you'll harm animals or help them.

For all we know it could be worse, the two heads before could have been made the brainless hands while the main head is a brand new one, meaning the strong bond you made with the first head, and what would probably be less of a strong bond but a bond none the less with the second head is now completely gone as both are no longer there and have been reduced to nothing but hands used to eat.

my personal theory for hydragon (since I own have one) is that both heads that were constantly bickering no longer have brains. This is because all of their energy was wasted on arguing. The new head that controls everything as the other two would only slow down the pokemon.

Not to mention Ghetsis has Hydreigon below evolution level and has high level Frustration(a move that increase power when the pokemon really hate his trainer) and not to mention Ghetsis only have one eye(possible get hurt by Hydreigon).
