I don't know how to explain this to you. 20 years ago, my friends used to quote from this movie. One day I asked them what they were talking about. They refused to tell me. It became this running joke where I would ask about "the gnome army" (34:55 - 36:00) because they kept saying it. They would hold it over me for years and years and years. I swore to them one day I'd figure out what it was from and what they were talking about. Finally, after the invention of the Internet and then KZbin, then endless scouring, I found your video. You have settled a running gag for the last 20 years that I began to think I would take to my grave never knowing.

Haha, right on man. That's hilarious. Your persistence has paid off! Now you have to troll them with a new gag.

Oh my word - my brother and I have quoted this thing for 30 years 😆 It’s so incredibly obscure - I’m so happy to know we aren’t the only ones! This movie is gold.

- Look ma, a whole gnome army! - You don’t know a gnome from a mushroom! Please tell me they had more quotes than that! This movie is chock full of things to quote.

Thanks for posting it. I’ve tried to find it for a long time, but couldn’t even remember the name. Just watched it again, with my daughter, and it brought back a lot of memories. Great movie.

I saw this before I got the book as a present (and read it to pieces). It was a nice little intro to the world of the book and the "real" world of the gnomes. (Those wonderful painted illustrations!) It was a bit of a surprise to me that, according to the book, Siberian gnomes weren't quite as jolly and friendly as Uncle Kostya in this special.

Amazing!! I watched this as a kid and found the trolls terrifying. I wish we had our old VHS tapes as there were so many old kids' films that I don't think I would ever see again. Does anyone remember a cartoon similar to Dr Snuggles? I vaguely remember he had a talking shed? I'm going back 30years and can hardly remember. Loved The Care Bears, Cities of Gold and Thundercats too

My sister and I thought Runt was so funny. My mom would call me and I'd answer "Here I am maw"! and then we would giggle

This might seem random, but you should check out the swedish dub of Gnomes (Trolltyg i Tomteskogen). Runt's voice is AMAZING in that version.

This is the first time I stumble upon this... Of course, I know David The Gnome, which is also based on this book. However, the David The Gnome series is Spain based. But never heard or seen the CBS version... Until now! What have I missed?

Wait... how can the parents have THREE kids? Everyone knows gnomes only have children ONCE and it's ALWAYS a set of twins.

when the Siberian gnome danced on the table, it reminded me of the scene in "the 5000 fingers of dr t" where dr terwilliker, mr zablidowski and bart's mom sang "get together weather" and bart's mom danced on a table

That’s one quote! Also: - You’re doing terrible, try something else! - Sounds like someone’s in horrible pain! -Get this pot of myaaa! - Lets not tell ma about that one, ok? -I didn’t know I had it in me. - We tried, but the woods are full of trolls! - Thirty years old and just out of diapers. And Thor’s announcement in the gayest voice possible “My Wedding Day!” - The song “Ice and Snow sixty below makes a happy Eskimo”
