Wonderful footage of a very special locomotive indeed that would have been lost had it not been for a Mr Notter, who as good as hid her at the back of Top Shed away from the prying eyes that would have had her scrapped.

Is it me or are those beats completely out of synch numerically with the wheel revolutions? There should be just 4 per revolution but as it accelerates there are more! 😳

Nineteen forties childhood memories in the North East of England of a single wheel drive locomotive at Castle Eden Station. Fairly sure it was a Stirling.

Oh she did alright. Try starting this engine on a wet day with those large driving wheels. You needed to have a very smooth hand at the reg to get her going.
