GNS 430W preflight

I have been practicing usage of the GNS 430W with my 14 year old friend and made this video to show him the preflight routine. The flight was made to my local avionics shop where I put down money on a new GTN 650xi to replace it, so if you are in the market for a 430 please leave your email in the comments section and I'll get back to you.

Thank You for showing Us that info about the GNS 430W and the G5. The GTN 650xi is great box, but pricy as well. I'm looking for GNS 530W.

Why do all the 430s I see have fingerprints on them? They aren't touchscreen...

Hi nice video . Could you tell me if the G5 HSI will display the Name (ident ) of the active To Waypoint when flying a active GPS flight plan or GPS App ? Also Can the RMI needles on the GR5 be configured to point to a tuned ADF ? and act asd a RMI not like a fixed card ADF card ? Thanks

Ian Cope Thank you. The bearing pointers (RMI) only show VOR or GPS bearing. I keep mine on VOR. There is no ident field showing the active waypoint on the G5, you have to look at the navigator (GNS or GTN) for that.

I got a second on Ebay. I don't know why people act like they are in short supply, I get asked a lot if I would sell my 430. There are lots of them removed for upgrade. I just love the thing. I have had it for 20 years and am going to fly it until 6 feet under.

I have a Garmin GNC 420W in perfect condition, no finger prints ha ha, only 130 hours on it, just updated the main software to 5.40, GPS to 5.0 it does the job for my Europa XS mono wheel, though may add a G5 soon. I hope I don't need parts in future because understand that could be a problem .@@scottfranco1962
