FYI the SEs at Putney have no longer got ISA due to some safety concerns. So you can enjoy the 533 at unlimited speed😇 I am off the 533 rota now so i was quite lucky i got to drive it on that day. I am all over the place at putney

@LondonBuses70 Oh damn ok, seems like Putney actually got common sense for once and its good they removed the ISA on those MMCs and I think with the EHs and WHVs too! Yeah man I really need a good 533 driver lol everytime they just stick to the limit and it would be nice getting your bus one day since I used to be local to putney routes.

Well the EH and the WHVs dont have ISA either. They just have the sticker and thats it🤣. Putney is great at making "good" changes to ISA. The only ones that probs will be from now on is the new electrics on the 265 coming soon and the majority of the WSs on 39. But yh i know the 533 drivers arent exactly that fast. But there u go

Wow! I knew 533 drivers were fast with Metroline but I didn’t think these GAL mmcs had it in them! It’s giving that similar kickdown vibe to the Alison’s as well as the revs!!

Oh yeah definitely, it’s producing even higher revs than the Allisons, they can only do 2600rpm, these can do 2800rpm! I do wish I caught this route when it was with Metroline though, them DEs seemed nice!

Huh... We don't get these kinds of revs in any short routes on 209, 378 or 533. But even with the jerky revs, how did the YW19-registered E200 MMC's were able to have a "kickdown"? I don't see the YX69-registed buses from River Road have any of those near my location. Other than that, it's amazing to catch this kind of bus to have "kickdowns" enabled, especially the beautiful deceleration sound it makes!

They don’t have any sort of kickdown fitted, it’s the gearbox being tricked! But yeah sounds lovely!

He’s dabbing the throttle pedal which on these force them to hold gears and reach higher revs. That’s why it sounds and feels jerky.

I can't achieve this with the 6.7litre Voith-fitted ones I drive. Normally, the throttle-tapping trick works best with the old ZF Ecomat boxes. I can make our ex-London 2009 E400s hit the limiter in every gear! 🤣

@@Frozzles The only way I can get the Voith to "flip out" is by heel-tapping the brake just as it changes up (our change-up really low) and then it sometimes flips out and unlocks the torque converter so that the engine screams for a few seconds before it settles down.

These have a very basic, “Eco” style mode when it comes to SensoTop just like it is with most other MMCs, but yeah when treated like this they go berserk regardless! 😮‍💨😮‍💨

Works just like TopoDyn, increases shifting points on higher gradients or heavy load, and decreases shifting points on the opposite, to improve fuel economy. I assume it has different modes just like TopoDyn does yeah

Yeah, it’s common with the new Euro 6 exhaust system that ADL use. It’s basically the airflow passing through the turbo, often heard when the throttle is released and as you said, during gear changes… from time to time.
