Mom and Pop country stores take care of alot of people. Feed them ,have a little of whatever you need to save from driving to town and provide conversation and a friendly face. The people working there are literally The salt of the earth❤❤❤ .

Probably 65-70% of people have worked in foodservice at sometime in their lives. It would be the 30% that have not, that can be impatient and demanding customers. No examples of that in this video but I was just thinking about it. Cooking for the public at any level, Chef or Cook deserves great respect.
@fatalberti14 күн бұрын
correct. its why i will not work in service but tip generously and treat all folks involved in service with patience and respect.

If you wouldn't tell me there's no shakes, then give a shake to the person behind me, and when I bring that up, yall threaten to call the police, people wouldn't be so bitchy!

It always surprised me how badly food service workers were treated. Be kind unless you enjoy eating dingleberries.
@randomguy674511 күн бұрын
I did a quick search and you were spot on, 63% roughly have worked in the industry at some point in their life…while they don’t get the respect they deserve, they should, along with other service focused industries, be lauded for what they do. A certain famous person came to this earth to not be served but to serve. We all need to remember that when we want to pitch a fit that our food is taking too long…at least we have the time, money, and ability to even get the food.

I have to agree with that. I’m so..glad I learn how to do both from my mother growing up. Love homemade Buttermilk biscuits, and Sausage gravy. My mother Mom made great homemade biscuits and Sausage gravy. No matter where you’re at in the south it’s all so…good.

Having travelled from the UK to the USA and travelled across it many times by road, I've always found the folk get nicer and nicer the further you get away from the cities. True Americans are the best, most welcoming of people. You can tell the fella cooking the ribs and biscuits is a quiet guy and is not entirely comfortable being filmed, but he went along with it anyway - Great guy with much skill turning out that much quality food in that space. Great video - Thank you.

This video 📷📸 was absolutely amazing and incredible. I love it when people want to keep old general stores in business because that is how it was back in the day. And I hope and pray 🙏 that these old general stores will always be alive. I want to personally say thank you to everyone at the general store for all of your hard work and dedication because it is outstanding 👍💪. But most importantly I want to thank John for all of his hard work and dedication for filming these amazing places. May the good Lord always bless everyone and keep you all safe and healthy where ever you go. Enjoy your day and take care

The gentleman who was wearing the “Maynard Auto Parts” baseball cap was very informative (apology, I didn’t catch his name). I loved it when he said when he was growing up, money wasn’t a problem! So true! They ate pinto beans, cornbread, and fried potatoes. That is what I grew up on in North Texas. Those truly were good days and good people. Hard working just like he is talking about. Everything revolved around the Church! He is a very wise man. Would like to hear more from him. This was a very enjoyable video. Thank you John. God bless all! 🙏♥️

This reminds me of the country store /last supply market. In Otter Creek Florida. They have a small kitchen. But they make the best biscuits .Sausage, egg bacon, etc ...Whatever you want from scratch.. They offer other menu items. But definitely have the best biscuits. Thank you for highlighting and reviewing these American treasures!! Hopefully you can do a review on that place.

Richard is making biscuits with White Lily flour which is a SOFT strain of wheat found mostly in the South, while most wheat here in the USA is the HARD red winter wheat strain. The soft strain of wheat is known to produce much better biscuits. The brand is available on line for shipping. I love a good biscuit with some country ham on it. Best to all...

Used to work in a food distribution warehouse. On my Thursday night shift, we would get done with work on Friday morning and quite a few days, I would end up going on my brothers route and head home with him to stay at my grandparents for the weekend. I eventually got my own route and loved visiting the buisnesses and seeing how some of the places made their food. My aunt was married to an old Vietnam Vet and his mother ran a small restaurant for a few years and ate there a few times. You learned where to and where not to eat while delivering food and supplies.
