Let’s break this down: The minute George found out Manny was alive, he was angry and resentful towards his mother, even if it was comedic relief for the show. Benny warned George constantly not to search for Manny because of the man he was. George denied because he wanted a real relationship with his father. Manny dies and asks George to not attend the service for a low and dirty reason. Benny was right the whole time.

I think one of the saddest things you realize about this show is that it's partly based off George Lopez' s life. Except he didn't have much of a mother either.
@meimei98602 жыл бұрын
Even though Benny's ways of parenting for George weren't very ideal, it did toughen George up. Now George is able to fend for himself against people as an adult, tolerate Angie's snobby family who always look down on him, and stand his ground when it comes to raising Max and Carmen. Manny may be right about Benny is a little off of her hinges, but Benny was the only parental figure he had in life.

Well in an episode where George doesn't give Benny a vacation, it turns out that if she wasn't tough, he wouldn't be the father he is.

When he was young his father was a blank space he could put all the love his mother never gave him. Now that he's reached this point of his life he's realized that love was never there. His father was a man who left him with a dangerous criminal mom. What sort of a father is that? By comparison she raised him and fed him and gave up her life for him. And he understands now that no matter how bitter he is over how bad she was to him, she the best mother he could hope for in his situation and she killed herself to be it. That counts for something. But damn that's a bleak life.

I loved it when shows like this one and Fresh Prince of Bel Air showed episodes that addressed the absent father of the protagonist and how they (both George and Will) stood up to them and felt after their fathers came back in their life for that short time. I related so much to those episodes due to me not growing up with a father figure, they were both great episodes with a powerful scene.

I never really cared for the whole “Find my Father” saga in season 1. I mean, George was more than willing to search for his father, knowing full well that he had abandoned him, never made an attempt to have any kind of relationship, and never even supported him. But, when he finds out his father is rich, then suddenly he’s a bad man, with no redeeming qualities.
@MPeoples2396 жыл бұрын
Synecdoche Films because you abandoned them without phone call thing to send money over even come visit George and that's him with an abusive drunk
@VideoGameAutopsy6 жыл бұрын
Lady Kitsune239 Yeah, but like I said, George was determined to find his father knowing that he abandoned him, and never cared enough to reach out and start a relationship together. His mom may have lied to him his whole life, but everything she said about his father was truth, he never cared about him.
@karlacolon42256 жыл бұрын
Synecdoche Films honestly i think finding out he had so much money and had made a name for himself was so much worse for George because his dad had the resources to get him,to give him a better life or to at least be part of it...and he never used it,he never tried to go see his son,he never tried to get him.So honestly I think it cemented to George at the moment that His dad never cared about him at all
@loudboy3175 жыл бұрын
George had to look for his father because he found out from his aunt Cecilia that Benny was lying to him throughout his life about how Manny was dead. It was worse when George also found out that Manny and Benny had a daughter together that he never knew about.
@loudboy3175 жыл бұрын
@@karlacolon4225 Manny's wife, Lydia said that he didn't have any money to give until George was already an adult. Basically, Manny didn't become rich until George started working at the Powers Bros. Aviation factory.

Not only did he leave a family, but he also started a new one without hesitation. He even named his new son George as if he was replacing him. And when he died, he even banned George from coming to his funeral just to save his reputation. That’s not just wrong but unforgivable. He deserved worst than a kidney disease.
