Google drive like iCloud, dropbox, something, it can save all of your files on the cloud, so if your pc crashed unfortunately , your files all gone, but you had backup in Google drive,so, never mind. People may not use hardware to store files anymore, cuz it’s so heavy and not convenient. So it will change the way people manage their file.

The files in google docs are on google's online cloud accesible only with an internet connection if you log in. This is slightly different (and is the same as dropbox... with more free storage) in that you have a google drive folder on your computer offline that you drag stuff into and it will appear on all devices where it has been signed in.

Google is completely free and already super easy to integrate because if you use gmail, google docs, or any other google product then you have drive. It's so simple!

I here to give my testimony. Google Drive is very good. I use it on my IpodTouch, Google Nexus 7, and my Asus Netbook. It's amazing how all my files and documents I work on are on all of my devices so I have them when ever I need them. I've been tempted to uninstall Microsoft Office because of how nice Google Drive is. As a college student I am constantly writing term papers, essays and building powerpoints, and I have been using Google drive recently to accomplish these tasks.

Dropbox is a small company with only one office. They wrote the TOS for real people. Google hired a team of lawyers. Google's TOS mean that they can do whatever they want with your stuff. You still "own" it, it's just that you can't control what they do with it. It's like letting someone have your car and agreeing not to sue them. They can crash, burn, steal, destroy or otherwise harm your car, but it's still YOUR car.

Google drive is awesome way better than word. I can type out my essay on my desktop at home, my phone at the bus, and my laptop at school and I don't even have I print it I can just sent it to my teacher when I'm done. Good for people who like to do stuff last minute and also save paper and ink. Everybody wins!

Well, now I see that we are both right. I am Google Apps (free edition) user and in my price list it says 5$/year for 20GB extra space. I am already using that so now I have 5GB (free) + 20GB (paid), but in my other standard Google Account, I see that price really is 2,49$/month for extra 25GB. Thanks for the info.

Plus, Google provides Music (about 20,000 songs) and Picasa on a separate platform (integrated under Google). 5 GB of doc storage (and text recognition) is more than enough on top of the Music and Picasa platform.

Google, i fucking love you. i download all my music off Google play so i get all my music directly in mp3 format and i frequently use Google drive. i don't have to waste space with microsoft word because google drive supplies these tools online. i dont understand why they havent attempted to make an actual desktop pc and/or OS for it.

You obviously haven't used Docs: you get to choose whom you want to share it with. By default, everything is private. You can change it to specific people (and they receive an email with a personal link that no one can use), or anyone with a public link, or public. If you share with anyone, you can also choose if you want them to edit, comment, or just view.

It is possible, just install google drive program/script from your distributors package repository and you can set one directory to be synced with Google Drive automatically. You get access like Google Drive would be a local directory instead remote.

Does Google Drive have linux support? The real benefit of Dropbox is that all the dropbox directories and files can be accessed from the command line as well. Makes the management of the documents much more easy that slowly clicking 'windows'.

I must agree that is has the same quality as Microsoft SkyDrive (only with less G.B. of free space) and it works basically the same (only using inferior Google Docs instead of Microsoft Office), and Dropbox is still (and will always be) my ''go-to'' cloudm but I really miss a Google Drive app for the Windows Phone, come on Google make one for my phone (*_*)

difficulty in changing language, changing main folder and, for some reason, the preferences always appear on the 2nd screen of my desktop, my TV, forcing me to turn it on every time I open preferences). Dropbox's option for changing folder is the best I've seen so far in a Cloud service - you press change folder and it moves everything automatically in just one step without having to unlink your account or what have you.

No. iCloud doesn't sync your documents that are stored in a computer. And it only works on apple devices.

Android use Linux OS, same way as your Ubuntu uses Linux as its OS. So Linux is supported of course. Google Drive even runs by Linux OS, like all Google Services.

Where did you read that? Some blog or on Google's official page? I saw people writing all kind of wrong info about Google Drive, in past few days. Log in to your Google account and go to storage settings. You will see that the pricing is the same (5$/year for 20GB), and it states that it is for Google Drive.

Sorry, but Google Drive isn't copying Dropbox but just following old Unix technology from 70s where ever registered user for specific networks over internet got personal storage what to use. Now, on these days the interface isn't anymore only at client side trough filemanager or shell, but you can use as well a web browser for it. If someone "stole" something, it is Dropbox and from Unix.

Yeh I still find it laughable that apple is actually dedicating an entire ad to tell the public how 'awesome and perfect' their active noise-cancellation is on their iPhone 5. Google had it on their Nexus ONE, four years ago, and didn't even think it was worthy enough to advertise.
