I was watching a french TV show and something jumped out at me I never noticed before. "IL faut que j'y aille", which is often pronounced "ee fau'q j'y aille". "I need to leave/go" with aller thrown into the subjunctive. Once that clicked I started hearing it a lot. Good one to learn.

Hi Alex... Great vids ! Just one detail : in French we rarely say "je pars chez moi". Most often you' ll hear people say "je RENTRE chez moi" with that "going BACK home" meaning ;o) You're as cute a button by the way 😍

A good way to understand “je m’en vais” which is “se aller de quelque part” is to think of it as “I’m getting myself out of here” or more succinctly , “I’m getting out of here”. Here there is the “of here” which can translate to the notion of “en” replacing “d’ici”.

this really helped. spanish is similar as to go is “ir” but to leave is reflexive and becomes “irse”

"je m'en vais" usually sounds as though you don't really want to be where you are anymore : "je m'en vais d'ici" = "I need to get out of here"

Hello. French person here. I admire your motivation to learn my language, which goes on par with mine to learn yours. Without motivation and work, learning a foreign language wouldn't go very far. In plus to motivation, as a student, I was even zealous. After the teacher made us study the lesson, say, 15, once back home I studied lesson 16 on my own. So I always had one course in advance on my schoolmates. I wish you the same zeal (in one form or another), and according to what I see in your videos, it's very probably the case. Kudos!

Moins formel et beaucoup plus usité que "il est tard, je m'en vais" : "il est tard, j'y vais" ou "je vais y aller". Quand on ne précis pas où l'on va, le sens par défaut est celui de "je rentre chez moi". "Marcher en arrière" (grammaticalement correct) => "reculer", on peut dire aussi "marcher à reculons".

When used in an affirmative sentence, espérer que is normally followed by the past or future tense, rather than the present tense J'espère que ton entretien s'est bien passé (if the interview already took place) J'espère que ton entretien se passera bien (if the interview has not yet taken place) J'espère que ton entretien se passe bien would mean I hope your interview is going well at the moment 🤓

en suisse, pour « je m’en vais », on dit souvent « j’y vais », - quand on est énervé : « je me taille », « je me casse », - quand on cherche qqn, à une soirée par exemple: --« tu as vu XX ? » --« il est loin », « il est parti » - pour les pommes, on peut dire --elles ne sont pas top --elles ne sont plus bonnes -- elles sont foutues 😊

Salut Alex, je suis un très grand fan de tes vidéos. Je les regarde régulièrement. Tu as fait beaucoup de progrès dans ton montage vidéo dernièrement. Oui 😃 mais pas systématiquement: "ça (cela) se passe bien" "Ça se déroule bien''. Mais ''ça passe ou ça casse'' on n'emploie pas "ça déroule ou ça casse."

D'abord, on doit comparer se passer avec se dérouler et non pas dérouler. Mais ce que Carlo a dit est correct :). J'aime utiliser se dérouler quand on parle de qqch avec un début et une fin. L'histoire se déroule dans les années 70. Les événements du film se déroulent en Afrique du Sud. Je n'ai pas encore maîtrisé toutes les nuances :)

J'avais le sens que "se dérouler" s'agit de une histoire ou un événement qui prend forme au fil de temps mais pas vraiment de quelque-chose éphémère alors que se passer peut être utilisé pour les deux.
