Fun fact: I heard this when I was 15. I’m almost 27 and have lived in Tallahassee and chilled with Craig and Heath of Kid Named Chicago at their homes. Great people. I also met Jason and the members of Go Radio back in 2011. Long story short, they refused to talk about Jason but also, never meet your heroes. If that makes any sense to the three people who will ever read this at this point.

Jason deserves MOST of the limelight. He wrote almost every single song, all of Tales told by dead friends, and most of A lesson in romantics. He also put that uniqueness in Mayday Parade that I really liked, and almost everyone else did. Now they just sound like..any other band.

Dude. FINALLY someone that agrees with me! Jason WAS Mayday Parade. They're definitely not the same without him. Jake tried taking over his parts but honestly, he did them no justice. I miss Jason. :(

I completely agree. He's an amazing vocalist, and he sings this song, and all of Go Radio's songs, beautifully. But he just sounds.. right with Mayday Parade. I hope they can patch things up one day. They've performed together since, so I suppose there's still a chance.

Jason is the 2nd Vocals is A Lesson in Romantics he left the band after the CD was recorded but before it came out he is credited in the CD's booklet as guest vocals but it was all him. Now the bassist and the drummer sing what Jason use to sing.

he deserves some. it isn't like he wrote ALL. alex and jake were in kid named chicago so they probably helped with the music to jamie all over. tbh, neither jason or derek sound quite as amazing without each other. they are both amazing, but together they were just wow... but mayday is still good, if they weren't then they would not be signing to atlantic records. their new material is obviously good enough to attract a major label. but lancaster is an amazing vocalist along with his siblings
@DarthChewyProduction14 жыл бұрын
I could relate to MP's ALIR album so much..every song was amazing and they all touched me. I wish Jason hadn't split but I understand why..I'd be pissed if I didn't get any credit either...but imagine what their next album would've been like?? Sure would've beat Anywhere But Here...........

I understand what you're trying to say. I was looking at the booklet insert on ALIR, and it said all credits for writing and such goes to Mayday Parade, and the only acknowledgement Jason got was "back up vocals and back up guitar." I thought it was pretty obvious Jason wrote the majority of the lyrics. I mean, nothing against New Mayday, but you can tell the writing is different after ALIR and the writing for Go Radio's stuff is just flawless IMO. Jason is such a talented composer & lyricist

I don't want to be misunderstood. I'm not saying that Derek isn't nice to his fans or kind to other people in his life. Here's what bothers me. Jason wrote many songs on the album A Lesson in Romantics and then Derek, perhaps along with other members of the band, went behind Jason's back and took legal credit for writing the songs. This means every time the songs get played on the radio or someone buys them on iTunes Derek is getting money for the songs written by Jason.
@DesVenin16 жыл бұрын
How is it messed up that they name him a guest vocalist? They couldn't exactly credit him a member of the band after his departure, nor could they completely ignore what he'd done for the band. Absolutely love this song. Jason's an amazing vocalist and writer. But I don't think he deserves ALL the limelight for MP's success, since Jake and Jeremy are doing such a good job filling in.
@goodbiggles15 жыл бұрын
yes.. i know jason made the songs and yes i do know that without him mayday parade will probably never be as succesfull but they're 2 bands now 2 diffrent bands.. and the fact that jason left is just a shame but not changeable
@kernelxsanders15 жыл бұрын
agreed, mayday parade is nothing at all without jason, the rest of the members deserve no credit whatsoever other than performing the songs live. he wrote all the music, guitar parts, drum parts, and vocals, and he made the right decision to leave the band.

@Rtp295 feel like i should say this. mayday admitted that they lost their way completley with 'Anywhere But Here' and that for the new album their trying to go back a bit to what they used to be.. we all know they'll never quite be as good as they were, but they're making an effort not to go further mainstream, so thats a good thing..

That's the reason why he left Mayday Parade!! He wasn't credited for ANYTHING, and he wasn't just going to let them get away with it under his nose. And why do you think does Mayday parade sound so different now, withoud Jason? And why are their lyrics drastically changed, now they don't have Jason anymore? If you listen to GR, it seems like Jason took MP's sound with him, including the lyrics. Because THAT's how it is, he DID take everything with him.

Or considering that Jason has nothing to do with Mayday Parade now- so he's not there to take 'credit' for the songs. And how do you even know that Derek takes 'credit' for them? Have you asked him? They play them at concerts because people like the songs, people know the songs. I highly doubt Derek is taking credit for them. I think he knows that the words aren't his. So I stand by my statement that Derek is one of the sweetest guys I've ever met.

@jukiluti I agree with what you said. Also just listen to the instrumentals (mostly in the verses); they sound wayyyy way different than they used to w/ Jason in the band. Now the instrumentals are predictable--average. Something you'd expect from an average 'alternative' band. MP sounds more like this type of average band now. They didn't whatsoever before, they were different. Now they're just average.

I donn't think he should take all the credit for Mayday Parade's sucess, yeahh he wrote most the songs, and he's an amaazing vocalist but i mean, it's not just about that is it..? He's not the guitarist, or the bassist or the drummer and some people might like Mayday Parade because of that. He had a choice to leave the band and obviously he doesn't mind mayday parade taking credit for some of the song's he's written, which tbh if he's still friends with them and stuff he's probably proud of it(:

uh.. sirously.. "they" didn't shut him out.. as far as i know he know he wanned to leave mayday parade before they started on their new album, though he stayed till they finished.. and plus.. people seriously stop comparing mayday parade to go radio yes jason's a imense mucisian with a talent as big as i dunno what but that doesn't take away the talent of the rest of mayday parade their called a 'band' for a reason...
@jukiluti14 жыл бұрын
@YUCATUBE102000 Its a comparison to their old stuff, which in some ways isn't fair because they aren't the same band member wise as they used to be. For me their lyrics sound more cheesy and less meaningful without jason. The duel singing effect was amazing, but jason clearly had the most talent imo. I can't stand derek by himself.
