Hey Ken, at 6:30 I think Bob went to the bathroom. hahaa....You sure did train the Damsel fly well for this video .and come to think of it you trained Bob well to, he behaved himself at the end. That was a great ending. Glad you both enjoyed your camp near tot he Colorado river. it looked a beautiful place. It is now starting to get damp and cold in the UK, a world apart from the camping weather where you are. Until next time Peace. Sandy (says he with his legs crossed)
@KennethKramm

Hi Sandy. You never know what a night camera would catch. I was hoping for a mountain lion. The property owner told us that the last time people camped in the same location that we were, they were awoken in the night by a mountain lion that was ripping into the tent! (So, we kept all food in the car). Yep, if you speak to the vegetation and wildlife they will speak to you. It may seem crazy or not possible, but there is truth to what I say. Plants do understand what people do to them and they respond. Interesting scientific research validates this. We both enjoyed the trip; The last few hours were spent meditating and doing yoga. Very powerful, relaxing and energizing. We will be posting pictures of some amazing yoga on the YogaDudes Website. I'll send the link, when the pictures are published. It's feels like fall now; warm temperatures rather than HOT in Texas. Peace, Ken.

Perfect camping serving meal etiquette! After spending 10 weeks on a Canadian cross country canoe trip with my best friend, we quickly learned that the person serving the meal should always let the other person choose what portion they wanted first, so nobody got upset over the portion amount. Believe me no matter how peaceful and beautiful it is, when you spend that much time in the wilderness with someone, a single sesame seed (or lack of) can cause a full out brawl.

Amazing spot you got there Kenneth ! what a beautiful area , and dinner and desert looked awesome , great place to explore and boy oh boy the critters were busy at night !what was the reason for cooking with the coals instead of the sterno , more heat ? what a great time i really enjoy this outing my friend , atb john
@KennethKramm
@KennethKramm 10 жыл бұрын
the mi woodsman Hi John. It's always fun to explore a new area. The land owner said mountain lions often visit the area where we were camping. (A previous camper was awoken by the sound of a mountain lion ripping into his tent!). Shucks, we didn't see any! I used coals, so that the bowl could be easily used for a campfire later that evening. There were too many coals and the oven cooked too fast. It would have been better with 1/4 the number of coals. A single can of sterno provides plenty of heat (I know, this is surprising .... but the oven retain the heat well and quickly boils water with sterno). Take care, Ken

Jason Fishaholic Schneider Thanks Jason. We plan to come back. Bob and I usually return to a location at least three times, if we like it. This private property has so much to explore, we will probably come many time! The property owner is also a great guy and allows folks to explore everywhere including the caves and cliffs... as long as we don't drive off his primitive 4wd road and destroy vegetation. He told us about a camper who stayed in the same location as us and was awaken in the night by a mountain lion tearing into the tent! Needless to say all food was kept in sealed containers in a locked car; not the tent.

I don't think the ultimate road trip vehicle would have been able to make it down that trail . So much good food you cooked to. Yep I'm jealous. Lol you know I'm a food connoisseur. So many caves and rocks to explore. I bet you'll be going back. Wouldn't mind coming with you hey I didn't see beer anywhere. Was he sneaking around... Cool you brought your game camera with you. I shouldnt raccoons , cats and one armadillo. Quite a bit of activity at your site that night. Did any come in and visit you in the hammock . I see you did a little swimming there. Lol or sliding. Enjoy the heck out of a video. I hope this more :-). Talk to you later ken.

We had a blast, Bob. You would have LOVED IT. And we would have explored the caves / cliffs. Yes, the property owner said we could go anywhere.... many mountain lions, however! A few years ago a mountain lion tore open a tent in the same location we camped (we were told). The road was awesome ... would have driven more places ... risky rocks, etc. My jeep is supposed to be able to cross 18 inches water and climb steep rocks.... but I don't want to scratch the paint. ....

+michael moroni I didn't worry too much about animals at the time...however, before we left the owner of the property to me that mountain lions were seen in the cave behind our camping site too months before we were there. The next time I make tamales pie on a video, I'll include the recipe. Stay tuned... ...ken

KennethKramm Do you have a video, or can you make a video about how to make hot coals for cooking? I am very interested in making one of those ovens that you use, but I am not so good on making coals.

Sir Arnold Great idea .I'll show how to make coals in a future video. Coals are from the incomplete combustion of wood. ATB, Ken

KennethKramm Thank you and I look forward to seeing it. Also, I have looked for bug repealing plants here in PA, but only found ones that are good for mosquitoes. Nothing really good for deer ticks.

Hi Ken, great video as always. I'm from Australia so we always have to be careful of snakes, spiders and if up in the far north, croc's. i was wondering if you have to worry about bears or anything where you are? sorry i dont know if you get bears where you are as we dont get them in Australia :) it looks so peaceful. i would love to camp somewhere like that.
@KennethKramm

pigstiwgn No problem with bears in this part of Texas. However, there are mountain lions (which can be very dangerous). Property owner said a previous camper (who stayed in the same location as us, was attacked by a mountain lion tearing into the tent at night. This didn't happen to us! Shucks.... It would have been recorded on the game camera. Very peaceful,...ATB, Ken

Wow! That was pretty awesome alright! Just in awe of the micro-videography with the Damsel fly... you could see its mouth moving. The caves looked like a very interesting place to explore. Wondering: Is that the original oven, or do you have to remake every so often? And, has Bob used that tent in the rain? I find that an interesting design they way the peaks go over the window/door opening. Once again, thanks so much for sharing. Cheers & atb Shaz

ShazBoo BookOwl Thanks. The damselfly just came to me. I was holding my IPhone and so used that to take the video!!! I made the ovens several months ago and have used them 6 or 7 times. So far they are holding up very wheel. Yes, the tent Bob is using is AWESOME in the rain and HEAVY WIND. It was used when Bob and I camped at Pedernales Falls a few years ago.... during a flash flood. The tent location became a stream.... yet the tent was dry on the inside. ATB, Shaz. Cheers, ken

Love it! Did you ever NEED 4wd for that road you were on, or could I make it in a SUV without 4x4? I live on Galveston island and I've been looking for a good alternative to backpacking the Big Thicket. Backpack camping the Big Thicket is great (and so close) but it's nice to change it up. We seem to enjoy a lot of the same national parks/forests etc. I use your channel a lot to find new areas to check out. Thanks for the vids

Several 2wd trucks and cars got stuck on this road while we were on it; made a big mess.... only 4wd were successfully driving it.
