Hahn made a serious blunder here, one which he based a large part of his presentation on. He and the rabbi are in gross error since the Hebrew Bible does in fact call people saints, specifically Elisha: [8] And there was a day when Eliseus passed by Sunam: now there was a great woman there, who detained him to eat bread; and as he passed often that way, he turned into her house to eat bread. [9] And she said to her husband: I perceive that this is A HOLY MAN OF GOD (ish Elohim QADOOSH), who often passeth by us. New American Bible) Douay Rheims-Latin Vulgate In fact, the entire theme of the Hebrew Bible is that God desires and commands his covenant people to be saints, i.e. holy people, in imitation of God's holiness: [44] For I am the Lord your God: BE HOLY (QADOSHIM) because I am holy. Defile not your souls by any creeping thing, that moveth upon the earth. Ego enim sum Dominus Deus vester: sancti estote, quia ego sanctus sum. Ne polluatis animas vestras in omni reptili quod movetur super terram. [45] For I am the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that I might be your God. Ego enim sum Dominus, qui eduxi vos de terra Aegypti, ut essem vobis in Deum. Sancti eritis, quia ego sanctus sum. Leviticus 11:44-45 [1] The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: Locutus est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens: [2] Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: BE YE HOLY (QADOSHIM), because I the Lord your God am holy. Loquere ad omnem coetum filiorum Israel, et dices ad eos: Sancti estote, quia ego sanctus sum, Dominus Deus vester. Leviticus 19:1-2 [1] The inscription of a title to David himself. Preserve me, O Lord, for I have put my trust in thee. Tituli inscriptio, ipsi David. Conserva me, Domine, quoniam speravi in te. [2] I have said to the Lord, thou art my God, for thou hast no need of my goods. Dixi Domino: Deus meus es tu, quoniam bonorum meorum non eges. [3] TO THE SAINTS (LIQDOOSHIM), WHO ARE IN HIS LAND, he hath made wonderful all my desires in them. Sanctis, qui sunt in terra ejus, mirificavit omnes voluntates meas in eis. Psalm 16:1-3 This is therefore a serious blunder on Hahn's part.

"Defending the faith" is a silly concept. First of all, faith is belief, hope, a far cry from actual knowledge. This leaves room for doubt and uncertainty. If the idea is to defend TRUTH, that's impossible. TRUTH needs no defense as it remains true regardless of what anyone believes. Only lies need defending as only lies are weak and to attack and defeat. If someone KNOWS the TRUTH, they will not try to argue about it or defend it. They will rest quietly in it. By EXAMPLE they share the TRUTH, not by words. Those that preach the loudest are trying to convince themselves they are right. If we buy into what they say, they take that as confirmation that they are right. Liars and those that are uncertain need followers.
@tatoon349 жыл бұрын
+Michael Gray do you believe in half truth or false truth? Why Jesus died for all of us if not showing the WHOLE truth about life. There is only one WHOLE truth and it is a person and God, Jesus Christ, and IF we are His followers, we need to continue to defend His examples, the Whole truth in whatever circumstances applicable to oneself ( in one's mind and heart and soul) and for others as well. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and tTEACHING them to obey EVERYTHING I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” In TEACHING, just like in any classroom, we cannot avoid confusion or misunderstandings, right? that is why we need to DEFEND or correct what is supposed to be true.
@michaelgray23199 жыл бұрын
+tatun mel, granted, my previous post had a couple of typos. However, I believe that it remains clear enough that my message is easily understood. If you are having difficulty in either reading or comprehending it, I am at a loss. I can not force you to understand. I cannot force you to slow down and reread it. Good luck with that.
@michaelgray23199 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter. "Faith", by definition, is not knowledge, it's hope. Not based on facts of any sort. Mere speculation really. If you actually read my posts, you'll see that I'm referring to all types of faith. If it needs defending, it is weak and therefore not TRUTH.
@michaelgray23198 жыл бұрын
+Adam Thooft, my personal beliefs are not the issue here.
@jdotoz8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Gray Truth remains true regardless of anyone's acceptance of it, but that's not what anyone means by "defending" it. Defending the truth means demonstrating its truth so that others can come to accept it as the truth. Oftentimes things that are true are not obviously true according to the evidence available to a person; they need to be shown through a combination of additional evidence or amplifying information that shows the connection of the evidence to the truth.

You don't have to ask Holy mother Mary to pray for your sins ! We have direct access to God through our Lord Jesus Christ Why did he die for us to repent of our sins in order to get access to God ? If we need to ask for Holy Mary ? Where does the Father son and Holy spirit come in ? Or should I say Holy Mother Mary ?
@jazzyjman809 жыл бұрын

Sounds like Hahn is claiming to communicate with the Beyond. And yet the Catholic Church takes a dim view on speaking with spirits. Hmmm. Angels are spirits, and we need to be careful about using the word "angel" as if it refers to a category of sentient reality (with wings!). The Greek word aggelos means "agent" or "messenger" and is used of both humans and heavenly beings in the New Testament. In essence, the postman is a kind of aggelos; he/she brings messages to our doorstep. Aggelos tells us nothing of the gender, character, or appearance of such a being, rather only of its function as a message giver or agent acting on behalf of someone else. A holy spirit brings "a good message" (= good news, gospel) in the New Testament. And so the more pertinent term is "spirit"; spirits from God may, in some capacities, bring "good tidings" and so are called "messengers," i.e. in Greek aggelos.

You must forget that in Old and New Testsment God sends his angels from heaven, and guides sinners to prophets, to holy people to work for salvation of all. If God does it on earth, can He do it most especially in heaven? Angles and saints are masterpiece of God, and God is the artist. For example, if the painting of the painter is admired by people, the credit ALWAYS go to painter or artist, not the painting.
