I believe you live in Goa and like our land and a concerned journalist, well done. Please learn to pronounce our names properly. May I ask you what would you suggest to stop this destruction?. If people from other states want to come and buy land , apartments etc for unreasonable amount of money and government is all out to sell every piece communidade land because of greed. If a Native Goans raises a genuine concern then we are termed as Unpatriotic, anti Indian and many other things. Please you as a person living in Goa are concerned and what we must feel and do????.

Goa is under threat so is the coastal (karavalli) and hilly regions (malnad) of Karnataka. In the recent years many outsiders have bought land in these areas after Karnataka relaxed the rules that anyone can buy agricultural land in Karnataka. Now they have started building resorts and illegal buildings rampantly because the corrupt government officials in Karnataka are closing their eyes and allowing the illegal construction.

Dêu borem korum. However some pronounciations could improve. We are slowly losing original ones to mispronounciations. Poim is pronounced as पोंय. Goan surnames are more likely to be Lopes, though there are a few Lopez. Fernandes is approximately pronounced फॅरनांदिस. It is not "fur". Santa Cruz is सांता क्रुज. ज in konkani in this case is z.
