Create a colourful dance party in your tent with the lightweight and easy to pack Crush Light Chroma from Goal Zero.
This collapsible solar lantern features the versatility of a built-in solar panel as well as a micro-USB cable for recharging it. It features 6 different colour modes and a multi-colour fade, plus the 3 white light settings and a candle flicker mode to set the mood. The on/off button performs mode selection, and a full charge will give you 3 hours and 60 lumens of light on high, or 35 hours on low. In today’s video, our gear nerd Ben talks you through the features of the Crush Light Chroma Collapsible Solar Lantern from Goal Zero.
He starts out with what’s included with the light, weight, and dimensions, charging options, the materials it’s made from, how to turn it on, and change the colour white and candle modes, plus more - so check it out above for all the details.

It uses Micro USB, not USB-C. I think the loops on the bottom are so you can hang it off a pack and expose it to sunlight to charge while hiking.

I’ve owned a few of these… absolutely love them… you asked a question and I hope this can help, a reason for bending in one side, then sitting on table or ground can direct light to your area and with the solar panel side facing other campsites it reduces other campers paying attention to you, or disturbing them.

G'day Chuck Turner, that's a good question! This lantern has 60 lumens of usable light on high which should be enough for around the campsite or inside a tent. The collapsible design means that you can half crush it to direct light in a diagonal direction if needed (more like a spotlight). There are a couple of photos on the lantern product page here which may give some indication - www.snowys.com.au/crush-light-chroma-collapsible-solar-lantern I hope this helps :) Cheers, Sonia

How do you know it's charging on Solar? Does the LED have to light up red or not? The online GOAL ZERO Crush light manual does not mention this at all.
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors Жыл бұрын
The user manual indicates that is should light up red when charging, fully charged when green. If it's not lighting up then you may need to angle the panel to harness more of the suns energy. ~ Ben

How bright is it at night? How well would 1-2 be in a tent?
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
Depends how big the tent is, one would be enough to find your way around in a 2-4 person tent, but larger tents may need two lights. It also depends on what you need light for. I'd suggest you start with one then add more if you decide it is necessary. ~ Ben

I wanted to work this out for you, Holly, but we don't have any in stock at the moment. I doubt it would have anything to do with the amount of charge, maybe try a double click to see if it goes back to white light, this looks to be how you exit the colour mode. ~ Ben

So I’m struggling a bit with mine that I just got a week ago. Either it goes in and out of demo or the solar just doesn’t charge it for long enough to hold more than like 10-20 minutes… I’m trying to charge it now with my generator to see how long it will last me. How long does it last you on solar? On usb?
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa, charging from solar won't be as efficient as charging from a USB outlet, this is the same for most devices with a built in panel. The guide indicates that you need about 20 hours of good sunlight to charge the light from the inbuilt solar panel, but only 2.5 hours from a USB port. I'd suggest using solar as a 'top-up' during your trip, and giving it a good charge from USB now and then to maintain the battery charge state. ~ Ben

The charge input specs state 5v, 2.5W/0.5A - so that seems to indicate it would charge in around an hour @Travis Carpenter...it may depend on the wattage of the little charging block or output port people use, so I'd say 2.5hrs would be a max timeframe. ~ Lauren
