My parent did not know any better but I understand this world and I will show my kids there are endless roads that lead to happiness. I will not decide their value or reflect my own insecurities or failures on my kids. They are a new chance, a blank slate, that needs to see everything as an opportunity. I will be their coach.

May May I am sorry you have to live with that. Maybe sitting down and writing them a letter.. ask that they can read it TWICE , "once for the heart and once for the head." If you are on your own, you surely need to let them know how you feel. Maybe send them the link to this video. Good luck

I have so much love and respect for this Woman. She is one of the 10 speaker who has touched my heart. Many won’t agree with her because they don’t want to accept their mistake but unless you accept it how are you going to change it Atleast when you are a parent.... Be the best version of yourself to your kids. You don’t do favour to them by rising them up. You need to be thankful for having them in your life irrespective of the way they are

Great message - the ending slate “love unconditionally” missed the point though. It’s about letting go of the idea of loving unconditionally and rather, expressing love with consciousness.
@StevenAndTraceyJiles6 жыл бұрын
I agree with her in part, but parenting also involves setting standards and expectation that help guide the child in being their optimal selves. Doesn't mean that you don't love them when they miss the mark, but the guideposts and standards are set to help not hurt. If not why even have parents to begin with except to procreate? True love involves disciple and guidance as well.... " "Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them." (Proverbs 13:24)

Nice if you live in a world where everyone is free to be who they are (whatever that might mean). Each of us has antisocial selfish tendencies; children need to be trained to become who they might become with training. Each of us needs coaching and persistence to get through tough times. This analysis seems a bit airy fairy to me.
@honestdudeguru4 жыл бұрын
I do not agree a bit. No parent would love their kids conditionally. Parents have seen the world and sufferings...if at all anything, they do not want their children to go thru' same sufferings. They are their to show the way and guide their children. If they ask their children to study, it is for their benefit. The children will be rewarded ultimately. Yes, definitely nobody should be forced to study against their wishes but i think parents would be sensible enough to realize where to draw the lines. I think this video is playing into the hands of children who want to justify their failure. Instead, the mantra should have been to believe in themselves and pursue whatever they enjoy. Ultimately, at the end of the day, you need to earn money to survive. You cant live off your oarents' money all your life.

Because it's all about SELF. Self means society. If the child doesnot fit into the frame then he is hated by parents where as the childhas many different potentials but we enforce them because they want to feel loved they give in and that is what bothers her
Good video. Bad grammar. "Try loving your child for who he is," not "try loving your child for who they are." A child is singular in number. Are you afraid to say "he" because you might be called sexist by the PC crazies?
