i have never understood this new style of playing essentially "in the goal". i see so many professional game highlights where the keeper is just standing on his line watching the ball go in because he never had a chance to react and then dive 8 yards. when i played 20 years ago, i was constantly getting forward to cut the angle (like how Tim Howard used to play) and of course getting set like you guys mention. it's simple geometry unless the shooter curling the ball. but you can tell the difference between shooting for power with instep (laces) and the inside of the foot.

Getting set means set still on toes or bouncing on toes?
@Andy15 ай бұрын
Yes, I’ve also heard it as the ‘ready position’, getting ready to make a save. On balls of feet, hands out, balanced, ready to make the save!

set still on your flat foot. no one can balance on toes .

@@danieldengaky2137 if your weight is forwards you’ll naturally bring your heels off the floor slightly. Should be on your balls of your feet rather than toes with your feet in contact with the ground, some keepers ‘pulse’ their feet, some stay more still
