Ernesto Hoost is pronounced as HOST, not "Hoost". So HOOST sounds like TOAST or ghost, most or roast. In Nederlands (Dutch) a double O is pronounced as a LONG O. To get the sound of "boost" or "roost" you add an E after the O. (voet = foot and voetbal = football) I am telling you this as I have been mega annoyed at "professionals" messing up Ernesto's name. GET IT RIGHT!!!
@TheModernMartialArtist3 жыл бұрын
@@receptieletoile7595 Yes I know, but since the announcers and commentators pronounced it oo for so long and since he never complained when interviewers said it with the oo I figured it was easier to go with the more well known variation and also that he didn't care about it.

I’m from Japan and I was teenager at his prime. He was called “Mr. Perfect” nor only by being strong.Look at his kicks, punches, combinations. All his movement is so sophisticated and it’s so much smooth & solid it can be on textbook. Thats why we called him “perfect” He was called by that name long before he start to dominate as a champion level. I like him but not a crazy fan of him, because of the perfection. My favorite fighter is more rough pumped up soulful kind of guys. And I’m not sure about this and no bad feeling about him but I think he start using steroids at the point he suddenly got bigger and powerful. He was skinny,tall & less power but accurate kind of fighter in his first era. Then suddenly his body got bigger(thicker) . After that ,the weakness was gone and then start to be a champion class contender You know , the whole body turns big in a little weird way and think when you do PEDs right? ....Like Barry Bonds, has changed since his younger days.
@englishguy96803 жыл бұрын
@@ひろぽん-c9x Yes a lot of fighters were using Steroids the organisers knew and permitted it. Which is a shame. Other than Hoost my favourites were Bonjasky, Ignashov, Kooklai and Musashi. You are right too, Hoost had great technique almost exactly like the textbook which was why I liked him. Similar to the reason why James Toney in my avatar is my favourite boxer as you watch him almost everything he did was straight from the textbook, I find it very satisfying to watch.

Def worth checking him out. outside the ring he wasn't a good person, he drank a lot and will end up serving 11 years in prision for killing his girlfriend, he died in a car accident on his way back to prision after visiting his family.

One thing was not mentioned in the video is were does he got his force from? In short and long range! It's from the hips. I think the kick-boxing success of Hoost is due largely to great fight matching ... i.e. Hoost seems to be paired with a bunch of paper tigers (or fighters who look good on paper 'cause they're stats are impressive or made to look so). Hoost was active from 1983-2006 and none of his fighting clips have him up against Dennis Alexio ? or Don the Dragon Wilson ? com'on man, you're killing me over here. Most of the fighters look straight out of training camp; maybe up and comers had to pass Hoost first to become something, or someone and if they couldn't pass hoost, they they were never any good of a kick boxing anyhow. Good clips for discussion but ... nah.

It’s just that Bob Sapp was a polar bear Wendigo in a human skin, with paddleboard fists and impact-resistant blubber. It wasn’t a fight as much as an exhibition in bear-baiting.
@BuildingCenter3 жыл бұрын
@@michaelwaynetucker Bob Sapp is a fine human. A general, all-around good guy ... except in his fighting career. No part of it made sense, unless it’s seen as part of a wild-ass money-making scheme orchestrated by people who knew how to wrangle a blubber-based Wendigo.

Hoost was good. But not legendary. The dude fought guys half his size because there were few weight classes in K1. 90% of guys he beat was a full head or two shorter than him.

Used to watch a lot of K-1. So impressive how his leg kicks would just leave the opponent barely able to stand by the 3rd round. He had consistent perfect technique. Beautiful to watch.

@James Lough Hoost was already a legendary kickboxer when he lost to Sapp. Sapp was the outsider, the sideshow. It would be like if Logan Paul actually beat Floyd Mayweather, well it's worse bc Mayweather is like 44 years old. Hoost was in his prime.
@hepwo912223 жыл бұрын
@James Lough I respect Hoost as one of the greatest kickboxers of all time, so maybe my criticism is more of the weaknesses in kickboxing than in Hoost himself. No untrained fighter can walk into boxing or UFC and beat the champ. I mean imagine Sapp vs Brock Lesner, Jon Jones, etc. Or in boxing, Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua, Sapp would get pummelled.
