Ross didn’t win the title actually. This race was the second to last race that only determined which 4 would advance to the title round for the last race Ross was 2 spots behind to make the cutline on the last lap and so he decided to wall ride since he had nothing to lose. By doing that he went from 10th to 5th. Which was 3 spots more than enough In the last race that would determine the title, he would end up 2nd in the championship by 2 points to Joey Logano, since Logano won and Chastain finished 3rd Hope this helps 👍

Yea that was Ross chastain and this was not to become champion. This was to get enough points to not be eliminated from the playoffs. I believe this was the race before the championship, so it was going to reduce the drivers eligible to win the cup from 8 drivers down to 4. He was trying to get enough points so that he could be a part of what NASCAR calls the championship 4 in the cup series. As it turns out, he got enough points. The championship race took place at Phoenix international speedway on Sunday. The champion 4 were Joey Logano, Chase Elliot, Christopher Bell and Ross Chastain. Funny thing is may sound like a seasoned veteran of NASCAR to the average person who reads this, but I have hardly ever watched. My neighbor is a huge fan and explained it all to me and I had to do a bunch of reading to understand wtf was going on. It’s an interesting sport once you begin to understand everything associated with it. Cars drivin’ in circles baby. Fast.

You can only hit a corner so fast before the front wheels loose traction and send you into the wall or grass. So instead he floored his car and used the wall to guide him around the corner. He was able to keep his wheel speed up without having to worry about crashing. Basically he was able to go straight away speeds while everyone eles was going cornering speeds while also being albe to pass them on the out side
