Amazing video Nikhil, so nice to see the hard workers who make those incredible oils. It is such a shame this may die off due to the young not wanting to carry on this legacy.

Great work Nikhil! 👏 This trilogy was a real journey to us also. I enjoyed most, the people who live and breathe this job. Very moving to see these real life heroes and their deep understanding for the aromatic materials. 🙌 Beautiful people.. Kudos to your friend and leading man of the series Zak, for his star quality and emotional leverage 😊

Nikhil, This reminds me of the saying (actually fact) that the finest quality wine is made from the tears of the poor. The work is so difficult, only the most poor will decide to do the work of tending the vines. It's their work (& the tears) crawling under the vines that differentiate a great wine from a good wine.

Sab kuch to theek hai. But maybe you should be asking owners the right questions- why do they not raise their wages? Or provide them viable social security? All that backbreaking work for per capita wage of 5000-6000 INR per month is sheer exploitation! There is no reason or incentive for the next generation to follow the footsteps of their parents and grandparents. Sirf ek din ke appreciation se kisi ka pet nahi bharta! Also, I bumped into your channel today and watched several videos. Maybe you should let others do the talking and be a patient listener while they share their lifetimes' experiences. They anyday know more about the work they do than you do.

This was touching, I just watched this video. But surprising enough noone talked about improving the working condition of these workers. If the workers do not get paid enough, why would they want their kids to suffer like they did? The pride in their work in not enough to have them make the decision to bring their children into the profession. This is a sad story for most of the crafts. This is worse as the end product is sold at a premium..

Again a brilliant effort as usual. People have forgotten their roots and culture. Unfortunately they've lost their taste of such beautiful fragrances as well. Only a handful still realize what gems lie in our past, and people like you who encourage traditional perfumery's revival, and those who are still associated with this business, deserve a lot of appreciation.

This really brings to light a consciousness of worldly treasures and the value of materials - society is gearing toward consumption based on shallow interest rather than humble value . when we become more materialistic in the sense of valuing earthly materials and focusing more on the quality of said materials rather the the quantity - we will become inherently more sustainable and elevated beings.

I have seen the 3 episodes of this series on visit to Kannauj. I am all for supporting local manufacturing but I find we are held back because there is resistance to change and innovation. When I see these people sweating it out in these dirty dinghy setups, it makes me wonder why their lives cannot be made easier by having nice climate controlled environment where they woudnt have to sweat. And also why not introduce some scientific equipment like gauges, temperature sensors etc to control temperature and pressure so that batches are more uniform. No I cannot buy attar looking at this. Globally there is a hue and cry on batch variations in Creed Aventus. Probably here we just don't care because no one bothered to check batch variations.

After watching this beautiful video, I decided to do something I very rarely do and that is to write a comment. And I find that I am not the only one who found tears coming to their eyes. Thank you for the lovely sharing of yet again another well crafted video. So much beauty in the world overlooked for the flash and gimmick. In my youth I had the good fortune to travel to India and was completely overwhelmed by the smells -- both the heavenly and the less so. If ever I have the opportunity to return I know where I will set my compass. I have wasted more time on KZbin videos than I care to admit, but watching your videos are hardly a waste of time. I feel as if I am spending unpolluted time getting to know my own heart. Thank you! And please return to make more if you can -- your work is missed!

Mr. Assam Oud attar artisan is clearly making enough money from these producers to be able to afford Raybans, expensive watches, fine linen and, clearly, a lot of food. Perhaps sharig such wealth more fairly with those who enable you to look so rich would lessen the burden on them.

This is soo good. I really loved the traditional techniques. These small perfumeries must be featured in travel channels and other tourism.. Also should me made as a tourist cultural visit. This way people will get publicity, fame and knowledge. We Indians underestimate ourselves. We have made everything possible in India that the western world doesn't know. I pitty for those who buy synthetic perfumes costing easily 200 eur. I would suggest these must be bottled and advertised just like the French brands who know how to market!
