I love the overlaid leather toe design on these boots and the fact the sole is stitched on. Looks and practicality from Vivo 👍🏼
@AndrewFolts8 ай бұрын
Yea, I think the overlays actually add a lot of waterproofing value. My feet always stay dry in the Gobi's.

I wish I could just walk into the store and try these on. I have wide feet (4E) but my problem has never been the toe box. My forefoot/ball is way, way wider than my toes and even my midfoot is pretty wide. Finding a good all season barefoot boot is proving to be hard. I have wedge shaped feet, I guess. I was hoping these might be the boot but maybe not.

@@alex-sh3zy Normally if there is a consensus that they won't work for extra wide feet then it is a clear sign for me to move on to the next model, lol. I've done the order them and send them back runaround more than a few times now.

They're certainly the widest Vivo's, but for extra-wide, you'd want to look at Be Lenka bit.ly/3TloaW7, Softstar kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5aWm2WVj9NrgtE, or Realfoot bit.ly/3NzbwRu
You know or the Aylla Uma Chelsea Men Brown will be available in a summer edition?

Not that I know of, which is too bad. Most barefoot Chelsea boots seem to be insulated.

Hi Andrew do you have a favorite wide bare foot winter boot that has a stitched tongue so when you step in puddles you have a better chance of not flooding the inside? Thanks for what you do. Zack
@AndrewFolts21 күн бұрын
Hey Zack, yea, my most-used winter boot right now is the Realfoot Trekker High. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKKlnKCLrK5pftk It's got an extra-wide toebox, which I don't even need but actually love due to more traction and space for toesplay and thick socks. It's also got a gusseted tongue and excellent water resistance with an inner membrane. If you don't want something fully extra-wide, the Vivo Gobi Boot or Warmlined kzbin.info/www/bejne/poGcZHx-qLaol5o have a stitched sole that wraps quite high up the sides for protection from puddles. For trails my go-to is the Vivo Magna FG kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIqsiHxqbM2ipaM or Tracker AT Leather kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHSliYqpaNydfs0 for super wet trails.
@zackstratis20 күн бұрын
@ gusseted tongue ! Thats the term for a sealed tongue. Such and important feature that so many shoe/boot websites don’t explain. Thanks Andrew. I’ll check out realfoot trekker.

Hi,nice video thanks, love this boots, I’m new in barefoot shoes, I try the the size 9 and 10 and both worn however the 10 give more room, I try the Primus all weather and looks for this one I will need 10, do you record will be better to get 9 that feet as a glove or 10 with more room in case my foot change? Many thanks
@AndrewFolts6 ай бұрын
My rule of thumb (literally) is 1/2 to 1 full thumbnail's length between the end of my toe and the front of the shoe. This way I have a little room to grow and don't hit the front when going down a steep hill or adding thick socks in the wintertime.
@SmattyyАй бұрын
I really have to make a decision if I should get these or the winterised version before they sell out. Is the outsole exactly the same? Just different color? And is it very uncomfortable to walk on gravel with 3,7 mm thickness? It seems like the outsole is hard according to you and offer good protection despite being so thin.
@AndrewFoltsАй бұрын
Yep, they're the same, just insulation vs not. With a wool felt insole bit.ly/46EsKEu for a little warmth and padding, either Gobi Boot feels amazing to walk on gravel. That said, a thin sole can get worn down faster on rough gravel (although pavement is not a problem), so if youre on gravel a lot, then I'd go for something with the FG sole. The Magna FG kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5rEdKVomr11fbs is my all-time favorite barefoot boot for walking on all terrain-flexible, but also rugged, and very convenient to slip on. FOLTSY20 for 20% off is still running, I believe.

@AndrewFolts2 ай бұрын
The Gobi is more flexible and better if you're doing longer walks. The Scott is also great, but a little more structured, so it's ideal for moderate casual use and as a work boot with some lightweight protection.

190 euros for a pair is so expensive in my opinion
@AndrewFolts3 ай бұрын
All my original Vivo's are still going after 3,000+ miles and seven years, so at most you're spending $5/mo. You can also use FOLTSY10 or FOLTSY20 for a discount. That said, whether you should pay the price just depends on how much you like the boots, how much you'll use them, and if you're willing to take care of them, so that they last.

I have two pairs of these in brown for my U.P.S. uniform. Highly recommend especially with replaceable sole. I Wear them all day every day from 30°-75°F until I go to shorts and low tops. Been using the sensus lately with shorts. If you can find me a size 39 (us womens 8, yes I'm a 5'6" man with feet to match 😂) in the winterized like you reviewed a year ago, id kill for a pair. Been looking for the insulated pair to no avail.
