I feel like the Goblins picked up the worship of Malacath in the 1st Era after the Yokudans migrated over. The Yokudans displaced the native Orcs, driving them into cities where the Orcs allowed the Goblins, Ogres, and other Goblin-ken to join them. Once in the Orc cities, they were exposed to Malacath and probably were forced to worship him by the Orcs, who generally dont allow the worship of other gods in their settlements.

It’s just a thought.

I personally like the idea that they are the definition of Malacaths Domain, the first outcasts. While the Maormer are remembered as a group exile, it's likely the Aldmer (Old Ehlnofey) cast out members of society to become wild and degenerate. I think that is where goblins originate.

I think the existence of Iron Orc or Osh'Ornim does kind of give some credence to Topal seeing Orcs and not just big goblins though. The Iron Orcs are just so distinct when compared Mountain Orcs and Wood Orcs, thier is no Malacath worship at all in Iron Orc culture and instead they worship the stones which is probably the earthbones, they speak a completely different language to other orcs, and it seems that they have always been in Craglorn with the Nedes since the beginning which goes against the main Orc creation myth. Honestly I don't think its a huge stretch that thier could have been two races of orc on Tamriel. The "old orcs" aka the Ornim, that are actually a race goblin-ken and the "new orcs" aka the Orsimer that are just corrupted Aldmer. Maybe the Ornim were once more wide spread around Tamriel but after the birth of the Orsimer, the Ornim intermixed and had a culturally exchange with the Orsimer creating a hybrid culture which would become modern orcish culture, with the Iron Orcs of Craglorn being the last remnants of pre-Orsimer Ornim culture.
@badluck56472 жыл бұрын
Orcs left Summerset pretty early in the first era, so it is not unreasonable for them to be in Craglorn long enough to develop a unique culture.
@smuggrog98212 жыл бұрын
@@badluck5647 Orcs actually came into existence a lot early then the First Era, the Velothi exodus happened around the mid Merethic Era. So the Orcs have been in Tamriel for a while and did end up creating many distinct cultures throughout Tamriel but on the other hand the main thing the ties them together is Malacath worship which the Iron Orcs lack. But its just a theory and Orcs being encountered before Malacaths transformation just being larger goblins is more likely, even in the Second and Third Era, goblin warlords could be as big or even bigger then Nords or Orcs, so its easy to believe that the original use for the word "orc" just meant large goblin. But again the Iron Orcs just seem to be the odd ball of orcs which does make me more open minded to Topal and other sources claiming orcs existed in the Dawn Era.
@badluck56472 жыл бұрын
@@smuggrog9821 I just don't see turning away from Malacath worship as very unique since there were many times that the orcs turned to Trinimac worship and rejected Malacath. The giant goblins just seems like a better theory.

34:25 We may not all know how technology works.... but we all sure as heck use it and take it for granted. It's so integral to society that many people would be screwed and not know how to live without it, yet still wouldn't know how to create it themselves. That's not the case in most fantasy setting that have magic. The magic is very rarely ever an integral part of the world / society. Outside of the magic school (Mage's guild) you still get pulleys and cranes instead of people using levitation or telekinesis. There are no enchanter vendors despite so many items being enchanted. There's no entertainers putting on magic shows. People don't use fire spells to light a fire or cook with in order to save wood. Don't use frost spells to preserve food. What about wind magic for sailing so you wouldn't need oars? Magelight instead of thousand-year-old candles still burning in long-sealed tombs. No weather/nature magic to help produce a better harvest. Magic is so separated from society in most fantasy settings, and vastly UNDER-represented - it's often reduced to only being used for combat, especially in games, because that's the main/only use for magic in games.

This got me thinking about the Thirsk Mead Hall quest- it mirrors the Cursed Tribe quest pretty hardcore. Place gets invaded by (insert "lesser" race) because the leadership was weak. Your help is enlisted. Leadership is shown to be too weak-willed for position. For the Cursed Tribe, the leadership asks you to just lie about it and gets wrecked either way. For the Nords, the leadership asks you to lie about it, and you can just go about your business or refuse to lie and make sure she gets wrecked. For the Rieklings, the leadership demands you replace them, and you get blue friends popping in every now and again. Now, this might be a little out there, but I got this fun little idea that the ghost leader you go see on the Nord side of the Thirsk quest might actually be an aspect of Malacath slowly trying to convert that little band of Nords. Malacath probably regularly sent Rieklings to test the isolated, far-removed inhabitants of Thirsk. Obviously he hadn't taken over completely, or he'd just demand the leader die outright instead of just refusing a blessing, but it all lines up with what happened to the orc tribe in Skyrim all too well to just dismiss it as coincidence. And it'd be a win-win-win scenario for Malacath no matter what happened. You can: 1. Fight for the Nords, and lie about the leader and let them eventually find out she's awful via curse/a displeased ghost instead of it being brought to light immediately, and start to lean more heavily on Malacath-suggested solutions 2. Fight for the Nords, then kill or reveal the leader to be unfit to the others, and a stronger leader eventually rises out of the situation to go on and ask the aspect/ghost for approval like they've always done. A terrible leader is taken care of, and there's no lost ground in converting them. 3. Side with the Rieklings, kill off all the Nords, and the old Riekling leader personally recognizes the code of Malacath to make sure the throne is occupied by the strongest among them. Malacath is already fond of goblin-kin, and he (probably) already admitted you're useful/strong and you have his favor for dealing with Yamarz. I'm sure there are holes in this little theory, I did just come up with it.

This theory posits that the Cyrodiilic goblins are largely comprised of former Ayleids. The Reiklings are Falmer, but seperate from the Falmer of Skyrim, who degenerated by their own means, not by Dwemer interference. This explains why Skyrim's Falmer resemble goblins. The goblins of Vale wood could be some mix of Ayleids and fallen Bosmer tribes, or whatever have you... Orcs in this case would be the sort of in-between state. Half goblin, half elf. I'm not sure quite how lore-founded this theory is, but I think it works well enough for my own headcanon.

Aylieds still exist in Valenwood, and reiklings would be in main land skyrim then

Bethesda should give goblins more numbers. A handful should be a dozen or upward in higher levels. Its not like they have a lot of hp. Well personally everywhere could be populated more from bandit camps to cities but goblins especially feel light when their whole shtick is being numerous fodder

Michael you are aware Elon Musk didn't actually invent anything right? He patented something someone else invented.

Haha. If we consider Elon a genius, perhaps we've already begun our decline into goblin-ken.

Inheriting a lot of money and funding stupid reddit projects like the death tunnel, somehow convinces people he's this Tony Stark genius I guess.

Maybe the real inventions were the contracts we made to have the title of "founder" for a company you bought along the way.

Michael: “they fight against each other a lot…” You mean like the Bretons do? You mean like the Imperial Nords versus the Stormcloaks? There’s other examples but you get my point.

I wonder if orcs even though are acknowledged as elvish or mer... I wonder if orcs are actually a previous generations Breton? Like Bretons are half elves that identify as more human prolly do to their ancestral elvish masters procreating with their human slave I wonder if orcs were the combination of the elves doing the same thing to the goblins and that's why they are normally mistaken as a goblin relation instead of an elven one...... when in fact maybe they are related to both?!...... or maybe goblin elves are reiklings.... just interesting thoughts. 🤔
