I did it!!!!!!! First go. I had no probs with the little metal disc's that went in volume buttons. There was a small metal plate that need to be fitted after installing camera that had no mention in your video. But thank you "Go cell phone repair". I could never have done without you. Have learnt so much during the process. Took me 3 hours. But thoroughly enjoyed!

Just followed this tutorial to the tee and replaced my housing thanks to you. Your method for organizing the removed screws was a life saver. Had issues with removing two screws that ended up being stripped but that was due to the crappy screw driver I had. Technically no since this should not affect stored data in any way. That said it's always a good idea to make backups on a regular basis. You just never know.

It really depends on your experience level. If you are doing a full disassembly including all small parts I'd give yourself at least an hour the first time. Once you've done a couple probably cut that time in half or less.

For anyone trying this, you do not need to purchase the stand-off screwdriver if you don’t own one. A flathead works fine. Also for the little metal circle on the volume buttons, a little bit of superglue will hold it in and not affect the functionality

HI, great video! But one little problem, you may help me with... I´ve been doing smartphones repairs and changing to the custom housing for a years, but until now never had issue with rear camera focusing after changing to the custom housing... I am pretty much sure that I´ ve done everything just fine, camera is working but it just wont focus which leads to poor quality of images ofc... I´ve tried with af lock (long tapping) but did not help... Also I did notice that the metal holder which came built in the custom housing on the place where rear camera comes, is a little bitte different then original one (yours also, mine is same as yours), original one has a tiny teeth on two sides of the circle edge of the metal holder... so I was wondering maybe is in that problem, maybe those teeth are giving the ability to focus the camera... also I just moved the camera from original housing to the custom, there are little chances to break it during that time... any suggestions what might cause the problem? I´ ll try to buy a new rear camera and replace it, but I do not believe it would help...

Is it possible to use the original lens? It could be the teeth you are referring to or maybe the lens on the new housing is causing the problem. Haven't run into that myself yet.

Slight drop in signal strength but not enough to make a difference in the areas where I use my phone. Haven't dropped it but most likely it's the same as the original iPhone 6 housing= WEAK.

How crucial is the screw location? ( I obviously understand if the long screw won’t go in don’t force it), but I put certain parts with the accommodated screws in little containers for each piece I took out, so they’re all kept together, but I mismatched the screws, help?

Some are more crucial than others but you really want to keep them organized from the start. One area that can cause serious problems is the screws that hold the panel behind the display connectors in place. You should connect the battery after the screen so you don't have the chance of shorting out the back light circuit. wich will blow the chips on the mother board

Be careful, when you change the housing, sometimes you loose the wifi signal, or the network signal is low. You have to scratch the screw on the new housing to have a better signal. Thank you for the video.

It would be helpful to have experience but otherwise it really depends on the person. If you've ever done scale model building that's about the closest thing that I can think of off the top of my head. If you have any doubts though I'd leave it to a pro. Attention to detail, organization, and following instructions to the letter is half the battle. The other is being able to work with very small parts.

Watched this through 3 times now in preparation to put an iPhone 7 style housing on my iPhone 6... I take it that you can swap the lightning port/headphone jack assembly and speaker over to the new housing before tackling the logic board to make screw organisation simpler.

Yep. You can do the lower flex and speaker independently of the logic board.

I shall do that then, my replacement housing arrived today and appears more barebones than yours was, the metal retaining bracket the camera clips into isn't present on mine, so I've had to order one as I've heard that this bracket is welded in on the original housing and removal is destructive.

Go Cell Phone Repair just done my housing replacement today and am pleased to say that it was successful. Unfortunately the external camera lens on my housing replacement was misaligned meaning photos taken are now blurry and obscured but everything else works as normal. My camera foam even came out of the old housing intact and in one piece! Thanks so much for making this video as I would not have been able to do this job without it.

Go Cell Phone Repair unfortunately not, the physical cutout on the housing is too low. I was able to get it near enough aligned, but when I put the logic board back in and plugged the camera into it, the camera shifted back up. I will go back in at some point to rule out trapped dust though.

Rick and Morty Amazon actually sells full edge to edge glass screen protectors that come with black or white bezels. So you could change the front to Black that way. The only problem is you won’t be able to change the home button without having it done by Apple so it is calibrated other wise if you replaced a home button on a Touch ID capable phone it could brick it.

I would suspect the lens. If it's not clean the camera might think you are trying to focus on the lens itself. Try another camera app and see if it does the same thing.

No they are different and not compatible. Also, I have ordered two 6S Plus housings and both of them were not manufactured correctly so it was impossible to use them. I'm still looking for a good supplier so that I can do a conversion on a 6S Plus.

A word of caution. Apple has taken to having their screws of differing lengths. Meaning if you put a longer screw in shorter hole, it will damage the circuit on the end of that screw. Hopefully the 'right to repair' campaign will outlaw practices of this kind aimed and preventing you from doing minor repairs.

You might have bent the metal tabs that make contact with the flex cable or possibly damaged the cable itself. That's where I'd look first.

Could be a lot of things. I would start with testing the charge port and battery. If that doesn't resolve the issue then you might have a problem with the Tristar IC which is very common if the phone has been charged with an inexpensive after market charger. Beyond that another part of the charging system possibly. Hard to tell without more diagnostic info.
