God Became a Baby - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon

Bishop, this year, finding your content brought me back to my faith. Tonight, for the first time since childhood, I’m going to midnight mass. For the first time in their lives, my sons and husband will go to a Christmas mass!!! (A mass period!) Thank you so much and may God bless you and our church. My novena intention today is that this year, we grow stronger as a family in our love for each other, with God. And next year we bring that out to the community, to folks struggling. That’s the dream… but tonight, another dream comes true, I will be with my family at a mass for the first time. Hoping my sons may be catechized this year… perhaps baptized. Baby steps. But thank you! I pray rosary with you every day and yesterday I gave my son’s fiancé a rosary and showed her the word on fire app. Love that there is a lot of Spanish content because that’s her mother tongue. Thanks for everything!!! ❤❤❤❤

That is so true. He uses your tragedies, your heartache, to meet with you finally. I finally know what it means to have a relationship with Jesus. For me, the meeting of Jesus with the Samaritan woman at the well is the most touching. He will be there for you when you are your lowest point.

I PRAISE JESUS! Even as I’m struggling providing for my children. I will keep faith. I get harassed and called names simply for sharing my testimony and asking for prayers. But prayers are all I WANT. I fell on hard times because I was fired from my job as a social worker at Forsyth Hospital because I declined the vaccine. I was denied my medical/religious exemption. I declined because of my pre existing health condition lupus and heart disease. I wish I could go back to the hospital but unfortunately the mandate is still in place all hospitals workers must be vaccinated against covid 19 for hospitals that participate in Medicare and Medicaid. I’m waitressing AND I’m SO THANKFUL, but I’m not making nearly as much as I use too. My husband died years ago. I’m all alone, As a single mother with two autistic children things are so overwhelming on me because my boys require a lot from me. Every month is a struggle to pay bills and to put food on the table. BUT our Heavenly Father gives me courage to not give up because I want to. I’m so discouraged but even as I face homelessness almost every month and even as I get put down and mocked because of my situation and choice. I will keep faith in God! He has provided this far. Hi there, have you considered the Novavax vaccine, still has risks but was made the traditional way without genetic technology is my understanding. Of course with your lupus and heart disease, would seem wise to consult with your doctor first. Best to you in tough times.

Indeed, it's incredibly extraordinary that God wanted to be so close to us, He became as helpless as a baby, which was a way that we would be drawn to Him, so that He could transform us. I read a commentary in a Bible once that talked about how an atheist farmer wanted to help some birds out in the cold, but his attempts didn't work, because he was a big person who kept scaring them away. He wished he could become a bird to more easily relate to them.

Babies have a profound effect on us. When I joined the DuPont Company over forty years ago as a researcher DuPont was just instituting paid six-weeks maternity leave. It became somewhat customary toward the end of maternity leave for the employee to come to the building with their newborn and visit with her work group. The work stopped, people relaxed, the problems at hand did not seem so overwhelming. For a short time, we were connected at a fundamental human level. I suggested to the manager that we should have childcare available in the building so that we could have "baby breaks" . DuPont never did that, but other companies have instituted on-site child care.

Thank you, Bishop Barron, for bringing the joy. I had a baby 24 hrs ago. My son! In this world and thriving. From that moment, my heart is filled with perma-joy. Of gratitude & astonishment. I was on my way to spend Christmas with my boy & elderly in-laws in deepest, coldest Michigan (well, Saline...) when fever & covid struck me & I couldn't risk exposing then. We are still together in spirit & love but I'm alone in choosing entertainment, So I cued up many YT videos of O Holy Night, all wonderful, perhaps the best by Josh Groban singing over a beautifully acted Nativity story showing the power of God as a baby. I was still surprised & happy to find tears falling down my face. Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you and to everyone on the channel I wanted to touch upon the word family the word family is defined in so many ways but I think in the Catholic way is defined by being together and supporting an uplifting one another just like the way we should be taking care of the vulnerable,the babies,the elderly,the sick and so on. I asked if you and everyone here could please pray, for those who have family, but at the same time do not have family, for so many reasons, for those who feel alone. Let us all pray for those who are alone, who feel alone l,who are lonely, because I feel that that is the greatest travesty of our times. May God and the baby Jesus give comfort and Solace and peace to everyone and especially to those who are alone and feel alone. Baby Jesus come and visit and stay with all who are feeling this way.
