I am so sorry for your loss, what that woman said was absolutely disgusting! I don't typically like to presume whether or not someone else is a Christian but if I was to in this case I would say that she's not one. As a Christian it makes me angry when people say things like that, it doesn't even make any sense (not for the same reason it doesn't make sense to you 😉) everyone dies at some point so to make that comment at a time like that was just cruel.

This reminds me of the story of David, David list after some dudes wife after he spied on her bathing. The husband was off at war so David slept with her and then got her pregnant. So that the 2 of them wouldn't be caught David has her husband come back from so that he could make the girl sleep with husband inorder to trick him into thinking the child was his. Unfortunately for David the dude gets drunk and passes out, never having slept with his wife . So David then sends the man to the Frontlines were the battle is most deadly so that he may be slain in combat so that David can marry her and try to trick his kingdom into believing the kid was conceived after thier marriage. David's plan almost works like a charm accept that God was watching the whole time , so God physically comes down to punish David on the day that his new wife gives birth. Because God is so righteous and just , he punishes David and his wife by killing their new born son. But of course, just killing their baby out right wouldn't be punishment enough. That would be letting them get off to easy. God wants to make sure that this baby suffers so that David and all of man kind will know God's wrath and fear him. So Yahweh then decides he can inflict the most excruciating pain possible by infecting their baby with a deadly virus. This poor infants exacution lasted for up to a week before his sad little innocent heart gave out. What a mighty and loving God we severe 😅. I guess that baby just had it ah comin 😂

@@KentuckyBradThere’s Christian sects that say you can’t get into heaven and be “truly saved” without being baptized. They’ve got the same source and “evidence” other sects have. Hitler loved the authority, and the fact that he could use it commit acts of pure evil. He even made “God with us” one of his slogans. His followers all loved Christianity and church was mandatory. His main issue with it is it wasn’t extreme enough in some cases and he wanted to change doctrine to reflect that. Hitlers modern, American followers all claim to be Christians. I could argue a lot of other Christians “hate” the Bible. For instance the people who’ve come to see Jesus’ saying you should “invite the poor, sick, and the infirm into your home” and “if someone asks you for jacket give them your coat as well” and his “turn the other cheek” as too woke. All Christians ignore when Jesus says “sell your possessions and give the money to the poor, take up a cross and follow me” for being communist. Along with many other things.

Trying to reconcile a world that is shitty with an all loving and powerful god is the tiresome chore of the apologist. He's been taught to believe that his faith in god is more important than "lowly" human reason and logic, and so for him, the caller, there is no contradiction. On the one hand, he believes there is the will of god, and on the other, a hopelessly human mind which cannot fathom god's calculus. This is WHY religion operates as it does: beating its messages into the minds of its followers week in, week out, since the time they're children (when even Santa was legitimately plausible). Then they remain in the same echo chambers where people repeat the same bullshit to each other constantly. The process of religious indoctrination didn't happen by accident: they observed what worked and codified it.

What should I do?” The pastor responds saying, “ I understand. Truly, I do. We all go through seasons of doubt and uncertainty. What I usually do is try to imitate our Lord as Paul said in Ephesians ‘Be imitators of God’. Imitating God may help connect to Him.” The man responds saying, “Alright, thanks I’ll try it.” A month passes and the man returns to his pastor, “I did it, I did what I was most certain God does in fact do.” The pastor then asks, “Do you feel closer to God?” The man’s shoulders sag and he shakily says, “No. In fact I have more doubts than before. I don’t think God cares about us at all. Worse still, I really and truly hate myself now!” The pastor is taken aback, and quickly asks, “What did you do that you were certain God does?” The man looks his pastor in the eyes and says, “I wanted to do something that I was certain God does. I thought for weeks but I just don’t know what’s actually true in God’s word. Then one day it was late at night and I was out walking trying to get my mind to come up with something. Anything. I heard some kind of altercation down an alley and so I investigated. I found a woman being raped by man who overpowered her. I thought to myself what would God do? Let's skip past the part where Adam and Eve have a choice between eating or not eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge and ask; how were two mere humans after eating a fruit supposed to have been infused with a miraculous substance which empowered them with their creator’s knowledge, able to coerce this all-knowing, all-powerful, infallible, invisible and eternal creator of everything God into believing they were just like him (or "us", if we are to recite the story correctly), and then into making a decision to expel them from paradise in fear they might eat another piece of fruit superimposed with a substance which grants eternal life? An all-knowing and infallible creator of the universe would have, (should) have been intelligent enough during "Plan A" to omit the planting of such consequential fruit trees during the construction of paradise. This God, Christianity's God, is four plans deep by the time we get around to reading Revelation. The moment an alternate plan must be put into action, all-knowing and infallible characteristics are no longer a reasonable supposition. Throughout Christianity’s literature, their God fails to exhibit all-knowing and infallible capabilities. Rather he is insecure, indecisive, intolerant, destructive and genocidal. YHWH's Plan A (Genesis 1:1-31) failed when he had to expel Adam and Eve from the garden (Genesis 3:22-24). Plan B failed when he decided to flood earth and start over (Genesis 6:5-22 through Genesis 7:1-24). Plan C failed when his ghost had sex with a teenage virgin (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) resulting in the birth of his human son/self (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), who was executed by the most powerful earthly empire of his time, all to save humanity from his previous three incompetent attempts at creating paradise. The verdict is still out on Plan D because Christianity now claims everything will be sorted out in an imaginary afterlife (Revelation). People really have to be naïve to believe that a primate-deity’s ghost had sex with a teenage virgin resulting in the birth of his human son/self who were then considered three gods in one and that any trash talking of two of the parts would be forgivable but saying bad things about the ghost part of the three in one god (Matthew 12:31) would end in eternal punishment. People really have to be naïve to believe that.

Reading Twelve Years A Slave is a lesson in how slave owners used the Bible to convince the slaves that they are slaves because Cain killed Abel, and they are being punished for what Cain did. Northup also tells how those slave owners would read from the Bible how god would punish them for trying to be free, and that god would punish them for not working hard enough. The ridiculous thing is that Solomon Northup heard and saw all this, and was a victim of it, and yet remained a devout believer and saw no evil or contradictions in those biblical teachings. Such is the evil in these Bronze Age myths, that both slaves and slave owners accepted that this was god's will without question.

I was a Presbyterian, a member of the Rev. Ray Davey's "disciples" in Belfast who rejected as nonsense the denialists who preferred Genesis to "The Descent of Man". I thing Ray himself invented the word "Bibliolatry". We certainly rejected the notion that all humans are descended from Adam and a woman made from his rib. Oddly enough, I failed to realise that the necessity for the "death" of Jesus, who somehow is still alive, is false if that "original sin" never happened.

@@jacksimpson-rogers1069 The impression I had of Jesus while growing up was Jesus as teacher, more like the Jesus in the movie Jesus Christ Superstar. You touched on a topic I have used for decades. If he knows the outcome, does nothing, he becomes an accessory. Cain did not know what "death" was, god did, yet let Cain kill his brother. He is an accessory to murder. (Quick question for believers. If God knows all, for the Passover story, why was lamb's blood over a doorway needed. He already knew who he was going after. Blood is not needed for death to "pass over" their home)
@wwlib5390
@wwlib5390 Жыл бұрын
@fdoe9184 "why was lamb's blood over a doorway needed." It has nothing to do with God's omniscience but everything to do with the individual's faith - at the risk of ridicule - same thing when the sick man was told to go dip himself in the jordan river 3x to be healed - or the blind man who allowed Jesus to put mud slurry on his eyes so that he could see! would YOU have done that? How foolish it must have seemed to onlookers. Sometimes believing upon God so strongly and with such conviction requires the believer to 'look foolish' in the eyes of the world - but in GOD's eyes - that person is declared righteous before Him by their faith. - History repeats itself - and so do many events in the Bible. Those who are alive during the last half of the Great Tribulation to come will be given a similar, but skewed choice to either worship the antichrist and declare their alignment with satan by taking the public Mark of the Beast (Rev 13-14) or be killed. The difference is, with the Mark, those taking it need not fear ridicule - they will be rewarded with jobs, food and the ability to buy and sell - they will be 'heros' in the eyes of the public. You are warned NOT to take that Mark under any circumstance, or your fate will be the same as Satan's. It took courage and conviction for the Israelites to stand firm in their faith -just as it takes courage and conviction to stand on your beliefs, whatever they are, in the public face of persecution. John 3 16 invites you to know God's love and promise to you. To the World, it seems ridiculous and illogical. To God it bestows righteousness before Him upon the believer. You can be part of God's perfect plan for your life if you will choose to seek Him with all your heart, mind, strength and soul. I wish you well.
@fdoe9184

@@wwlib5390 interesting, but I see a flaw in your story. In your mythology, god knows all, past, present & future & knows what's in your heart before you do. He already knows who the faithful are. I don't know why he would want to make someone feel ridiculous. But he knows the truly faithful. Why didn't he kill the sons of folks who didn't believe or mocked, but did the blood thing anyway? Also, why would he need angels to carry out his murderous plot that he planned, rather than just snap his fingers & do it himself? Odin, Jupiter or Zeus wouldn't have done that. Plus, their stories are written even earlier in time so you know they are real too.

According to the caller we cant hold a person responsible for another persons actions, so therefore we cant hold god accountable for people's actions either. Fun fact: In my province, if you had sufficient reason to believe that a child was people subjected to abuse and you take no action to report it you cant be fined or even jailed for a short time. Its almost like if you have the power to protect the helpless, you have an obligation to do at least the bare minimum. And yet when the most powerful entity in existence who could never even turn to our excuses of ignorance or fearing reprisal is concerned its suddenly okay to completely abdicate responsibility. If you want to brag about your infinite power, you must be ready to take infinite respinsibility.
