Whats kinda ironic about his death, is that Romeo was a catalyst that could have changed the world. If he had not been killed and eventually learned his power, he would have basically become the equivalent of a new messiah for humanity. Romeo's blood power is basically Repel, and it's area of effect is 10km and affects any Aragami, including even Psions such as the Marduk. If that had been mastered, he could literally create a territory the size of a modern day medium to large city where no Aragami could enter, a safe haven the likes of which Aegis had promised to be. In comparison, the Far East Headquarters, potentially the largest safe haven of humanity where the greatest number of survivors live in population density, is less than 1km in diameter and is still constantly attacked by Aragami. The location of Aegis, an island which was believed to be capable of housing every human left on earth in safety, was again smaller than 10km. Instead, he ends up sacrificed as a pawn in an attempt to basically destroy the world instead. Rather than the Messiah that could have saved Humanity, he ended up the pivot that very nearly spelled the end of Humanity. Irony at its best.

The Marduk inflicted a grievous wound on Romeo, and Julius is already condemned to die since he's infected with the Black Spider Disease, which (SPOILER) is the world's way of creating a new Singularity for the Devouring Apocalypse.
