As much fun as this was, I really think they need to let thor be a king. The black winter stuff was great, thor really came into his own and wore the crown. However after that, Odin had to keep being called in to help with Thor’s problems. Even now in death, Odin still has to babysit thor. Let thor be his own king.

And Thor back then could probably fight the majority of earths heroes to a standstill. But today, Thor, having the Odin force augmenting his already considerable might just still seems almost second tier at times. To me, if they’re not going to write him correctly maybe they should just bring Odin back and find some threats for Thor on earth and make him an earth based hero again. IMO

This story was a bit of a let down. Mainly because they hyped up this epic battle between the two and the power they have now only to not use any of the new powers and abilities either has and instead just switch their roles for an issue. All I wanted to see was All Father Thor take on the new Titan Hulk and we couldn't even get that.

@@KryyssTV Crossover battles aren't the time and place for Thor to have his character development or Hulk to reveal the trigger for his motivations. The point of the crossover was for these 2 immensely powerful beings to duke it out in glorious combat. They can have all the story and character development in their own comics. Banner could've easily revealed the El Paso incident after this crossover and Thor could've gone on an entire adventure to spend quality time with Odin before they have their bonding moment. Doing all this in the crossover makes it feel rushed and less impactful.

The problem with thor is the same problem with superman and that problem is the "holding back" statement which is just a plot device to indirectly say other characters are inferior. Edit: for those saying thor or Hulk don't hold back they really do all the time in comics its just that superman is more famous for it as its one of his famous traits but the other two do just as much.

"Holding back" is such obnoxious bullshit from several different angles. -Retcons all previous loses as "not trying, would've won otherwise" -Paradoxically puts said character above those they lost to. -Never have to face a fair and square loss. -If you lose to them while they are holding back it makes you look that much worse. --Gives them this air of faux humility and makes them look all the more caring and sincere; at the expense of the other character "I didn't want to hurt or wind up killing you"

It was supposed to answer the question as to who’s better- instead we basically learned what anyone would assume- banner controlling hulk without the rage boost is weaker than a massively amped Thor with hulks powers and rage amp. Also, did cates just forget that hulk can absorb gamma radiation from people? This whole story reeks of Thor fanboyism and I really hope cates gets fired at this point- he clearly can’t write a story without strict editor supervision or else he’ll contradict pre-established lore

I'm gonna be completely honest, this was EXTREMELY underwhelming and anticlimactic. The fact that we had to wait this long for a mediocre conclusion I almost wanna say this was down right terrible. I didn't feel like I got anywhere near the epic fight I was expecting. Instead we got Banner and Odin trying to barely stop Thor and get him to calm down. Hulk doesn't even need help draining the gamma radiation, and he felt weaker to me than when they fought earlier. His arm didn't even heal until Odin was done talking to Thor. Hulk wasn't in a simulation when he fought Realm breaker Thor. Its why Hulk felt weaker he wasn't as angry as he was back at the arena. Talking down Thor was the only way they could stop him. When Odin stated that none of the runes and magik could settle Thor's rage it is to tell the audience that Hulk wasn't going to win this fight physically.

The problem is we're tired of seeing hulk "fight" somebody and he's either not actually taking it serious or he's depowered. Hulk was weaker in this issue because Banner took over and decided to stop fighting serious and instead calm thor down. And he coulda just absorbed the gamma radiation out this entire time without the hammer if he wanted a peaceful way to stop him. This was clearly meant to favor Thor which is why we had Odin helping out so much and Bruce deciding to "talk" it out so they could have that moment with Thor and Odin. Like don't give this bs reason about thor holding back and Hulk not being able to take him down when thor is boosted by gamma radiation and hulk is somehow weaker on top of also having the power to use the hammer. Give us a real fight with a real powered up hulk and thor next time. And a better writer too. Huge let down

@@dylanhopkins5934 Hulk couldn't absorb the Gamma Radiation from Thor because Thor refused to let him do so. Thor is strong enough to refuse Galatius's will over the Power Cosmic. So I don't see much of an issue with believing Thor can resist Hulk's attempt. Thor has stated in the classic comics that he holds back in order to not kill his foes or humble his allies even if its a life and death situation. Because he knows that if he cuts loose on Midgard innocent people will get hurt in the process and the entire point of him getting casted out of Asgard was to learn humility.

And even if there was a slight chance he needed a lil extra help he has the hammer which could also drain gamma like it did when thor calmed down. And it doesn't really matter if thor holds back. In fact it would make sense that he does given how powerful he is. But hulk does as well and he clearly did in this conclusion which is the problem.

This story absolutely reeks of cates trying to purposely nerf hulk from his high in Immortal Hulk so he can make his favorite Thor look better. I mean we see Thor getting bodied the entire fight and see titan getting hyped up, only to suddenly have banner take over and limit his rage/power and then Thor gets a buff with hulks powers and rage boost. Then we get perhaps the worst retcon/ asspull in comic history with the whole “Thor is always holding back!”. (Can’t wait till Thor fans use this to say he could beat literally anyone he’s lost to ever). I hope to God marvel takes the hulk from him because at this rate he’s gonna drive the character into the ground

That Thor holding back thing has had precedence in many other runs, this is far from the first time it has come up, it isn’t even the first time it has come up specifically in reference to him fighting Hulk. Gladiator almost knocked Thor out like twice in one fight before Thor realized how dangerous he was and put him down in a single page. Thor holds back to a stupid degree canonically, usually until it’s way too obvious that he shouldn’t. If Cates was writing it to deliberately nerf Hulk he wouldn’t have included the portions of the fight you just complained about with Thor “getting bodied”. Also Hulk using Mjolnir is plenty Hulk fan-service enough. You’ll see Titan Hulk in a few months man. Take some deep breaths

This story arc had so much potential at the beginning. Writer rushed through all the best parts... I'm a bit disappointed and that doesn't happen often with comics. Some fantastic ideas and concepts I loved... not that excited about the next chapter now. This was my top priority new issue for the first 5 issues but was already losing steam by issue 3.

It felt like the writing was REALLY forced in places there. All those life and death situations and "oh but Thor was holding back." OK. Sure. And...no. Not even close to Rune King Thor. Rune King Thor's true power wasn't even in his strength/magical power, it was in his ability to perfectly see fate and choose the outcome he wanted. If you go back to the story, the moment he gained the runes he went step by step on a necessary progression to end The Ones Who Sit Above in Shadow. It was basically him writing the story at that point.

This didn't really show who was really the strongest of the two, but i still kind of enjoyed it. I think it was a little disjointed in how Hulk's "El Paso" incident they've been mentioning in the Hulk run was explained in the Thor tie-in. And the power scaling issue between the two was thrown off with Iron Man jumping in. While the power swaps were a little "gimmicking," I still found it cool to see Bruce Banner and Odin interact and reason with one another. Over all, I enjoyed this battle. The fights were awesome and, while we didn't get a clear "winner" in the end, It's always fun to see Hulk and Thor go at it. And personally, I've always been a Hulk-Fan, through and through.

To be fair though, Hulk has gone up against Warriors Madness Thor as Professor Hulk, and they were trading blow for blow. In fact Professor Hulk managed to punch Warriors Madness Thor into space because Professor Hulk didn't want the two of them to get nuked. And Thor's power in the Warriors Madness state is amplified x10. Meaning that Professor Hulk fought evenly with a Thor x10 and even made him look like a chump when he punched him into space. Plus in a fight to the death, there is absolutely no way Thor could really kill the Hulk. Hulk is immortal and unkillable, while Thor is not immortal and is killable. In terms of trying to knock each other out then it goes either way. But if it's a battle to the death then the Hulk wins, because he'll continuously come back to life angrier and more powerful than before to eventually he would overwhelm Thor and kill him in brutal fashion.

Which is why when Rob said Thor has to hurry and beat Hulk because the angry he gets the stronger he gets I was confused, cause it should be the same for Thor in this situation. But we could take a situation like World Breaker Hulk vs Sentry which ended in a stalemate. And Thor vs Sentry/The Void when the Void killed Loki and then Thor Killed the Void or beat him at least (I don’t know for sure cause even when I did read comics I only read DC. So I don’t know if their were any nerfs or buffs involved for either character but it didn’t seem like it) and compare those. I would think, a Thor not holding back could beat World Breaker Hulk especially as he is now. But we’ll never know, because they won’t seem to do the fight and just let the fight be what it is

Let's not forget that Thor has hulks powers now and was shown to be getting stronger and stronger as the fight goes on. Hulk literally brought Thor to his knees and at the end Thor is powerful enough to rip his arm off. Regular king Thor loses to starship hulk. Hulk made the mistake of giving Thor access to unlimited power. If he hadn't then the fight would have gone to hulk. So 1 on 1 the hulk wins. Not to mention the "always holding back" thing was hulks. I strongly disagree with the notion that Thor was never holding back. Thor has had much crazier and insane fights with other gods and cosmic beings with the feats to back it up (not including his amped-up forms). But we never get to see these when he fights Hulk in any of their previous fights. And people still think he doesn't hold back to some small degree? Even I know that Hulk doesn't use his full capabilities against Thor either considering how much insane feats he has. I personally wouldn't use that concussion example as a showing for their respective power levels. In the same issue, Hulk knocked She-Hulk quite a good distance away, but a punch that didn't even do anything to the surrounding area cracked Thor's skull? Thor has also been knocked halfway across the planet, been smacked at ftl speeds through space, etc, and came out fine. But a street-level punch cracked his skull? There are better examples than that specific one as an argument for Hulk's power level. At the end of the day, the winner is whoever you like. If you like Hulk more, then that is your winner. I just personally see the notion that Thor doesn't hold back to even a small degree to be kind of odd.

Please don’t apply the term genius to Donnie Cates…It’s pretty obvious that Cates took over the Hulk writing job with an agenda…..to nerf the Hulk at the benefit of his real favorite character, Thor…who he has been writing for years. Cates has had an agenda since he took the baton from Al Ewing/Immortal Hulk (where in that series the Hulk was elevated to godlike status and powers). Cates flimsy thin storytelling here where we get these narratives from Beta Ray Bill and Odin talking about how Thor has always held back for the last 60 years of these characters is completely absurd. Also, this confused, Banner directed version of the Hulk is not World War Hulk. This is not Devil Hulk that knocked all Father Thor out with a single punch. It was almost embarrassing to read Cates writing here where Banner and Odin are chatting during this fight while the Hulk is trying to fight this ‘Hulked out’ Thor. Also, missing from this videos analysis is the fact that this Thor is so powerful because….he’s A HULK! Prior to him becoming a Hulk he was going nowhere in this battle. I’m surprised Marvel signed off on this awkward attempt at nerfing the Hulk and I can’t wait until a different author takes over The Hulk title and brings back the strongest one there is. The character bias shown by writer Cates here towards Thor at the expense of the Hulk is insulting. If I was a fan of Thor I would send Cates a pizza and some flowers for his masterful assassination of Team Hulk lol 😂

That was really lame actually, the fact we got a new hulk from and it didn’t even come out again here to fight a hulk out Thor. Then to say Thor is more powerful/stronger then the hulk is also lame. I am greatly disappointed in seeing hulk lose hard

I get where your coming from man. but you have to remember. It was Banner fighting Thor, not Hulk. also Rob was right in saying that Hulk wasn't even at his strongest due to safe guards put into place by banner. So in fact Thor didn't beat Hulk... he beat Banner. And as Far as Titan Hulk.. I'm with you. I was really hoping Titan would come out and Destroy everything! That would have been freaking AMAZING!

@@kauetadaieski3131 No bias man. I just read the comic. Banner was in control of Hulk not the Hulk persona. Thor was Hulked out and losing his ever loving mind, and Banner and Odin were trying to use their wits and not their brawn to stop Thor, and keep Titan from coming out and destroying everything. If anything this makes me think that there will never be a clear winner between Hulk and Thor.

I can respect this outcome Thor probably started out at a few levels higher than the Hulk when they fought but Hulk always grew stronger sometimes so much that he left base thor in the dust. They recognise that Hulk could beat Thor if he had his limitless power. Its a respectable outcome all things considered.

Not really. Hulk started to get stronger at certain moments earlier but then he seemed weaker than he was before in this last issue whereas thor is supposedly not holding back anymore. Which makes no sense when he has the hammer too

@@nikolapecanac3094 maybe, maybe not. They fight all the time so it's not like the rivalry wouldn't still go on. The least they could do is give us an actual good fight. And if they don't wanna do that with Hulk and Thor then give us a hulk and thanos fight where hulk is actually going all out
