Some religious claims are astonishingly ignorant baseless and ridiculous, I think all the thousands of gods are man invented and most religions contain the same myths but I'm a live and let live person so whatever makes you feel a better person crack on but I do wish believers would stop mis using over using the word truth and trying to get as much money as possible

Religion has indeed been used perniciously. However, Hitler, Stalin, and Mao used appeals to pride for the destruction they caused. Consider the thought that if there were no religion, some other sort of fantasies will be leveraged to get power over the sheeple. As for Hitchens, recall he said he didn't care if people wanted to play with their toys. He only objected to being expected to also play with their toys.

It makes me laugh that these God-botherers are so smug, yet they're so desperate to 'prove' their twaddle. Well, show some actual proof rather than offer up the same tired old religious psychobabble. After all, the onus is on you to prove what you claim to be true. Yes, an omnipotent god that supposedly created everything did he not? Good, so when I see people suffering in pain, and then eventually die from whatever disease they've suffered from, I can blame this wonderful god for having created the disease. Now just think of the billions throughout human history who have suffered that same fate? A god that stood by and watched despots throughout history kill millions upon millions, along with the wars, starvation, etc, etc - and never once throughout that history has he lifted an omnipotent finger to stop or alleviate one single thing. Who in their right mind would not stop any of that if they possessed such omnipotence? I certainly would. After all, what better way to prove that you exist as a kind, loving god?? The answer is simple. There is no god, omnipotent or otherwise. All that exists are the deluded lunatics who think the rest of us should follow suit. And who is this devil character? Ah yes, the fallen angel who God cast out of heaven. So why does he possess such power? Isn't god the all-powerful one?? He could have saved himself a lot of trouble by ending his existence in the first place with a wave of his mighty hand, could he not? But no, he merely 'cast him out'. 🤣 As for my earlier claim of knowing who to blame, I don't actually blame God. After all, what’s the point of blaming something that doesn't exist or ever has? Good luck with your delusion, for that's all it is.

I could say 'Christopher Hitcherson' - you've really got to grips with that book. The better point is that Christian believers do not believe in the god Christopher Hitchens did not believe in. He had a good mind, a plummy English accent, a good turn of phrase, a decent education, all of which led too many to think he spoke with papal infallibility. He did land some good blows (think Mother Teresa and clerical sexual abuse) but failed to do enough research on others (Billy Graham - only partly right). Rely on his conclusions at your peril.

@@bettyboohadapoo correct. I have no-one to do my research for me, so I do it all myself. As for 'published' - every man and his dog thinks he is 'published' these days just because he's posted something on social media etc. Be that as it may, I do have professional and personal articles published by journals etc, but I suspect that will not be enough to persuade you from your apparent scepticism. As for my conclusions, they are set out in my original post. To repeat: Hitchens got it right when he was shooting fish in a barrel, but anyone can do that. I have watched videos of him talking to nodding dogs who were lapping up what they wanted to hear, and were impressed because it was delivered with a snarky venom that scratched their itch. Nah, I prefer Woden myself (the English version of Odin, from whose name we get 'Wednesday' (Wodensday). In fact, most of the days of the week are from Anglo-Saxon (Old English) - Sunday (day of the Sun), Monday (day of the moon), Tuesday (named after Tiw, a god of war), Wednesday (already explained), Thursday (after Thunor, god of lightning, amongst other things), Friday (after Frig, goddess of love). Saturday doesn't have an Anglo-Saxon equivalent, and comes from the Roman 'Saturnalia'.

I know atheism is a logical fallacy that assumes God is the religious idea of the creator of the creation to conclude wrongly no creator exists because a particular idea of God doesn’t exist. What would be the future of atheism if atheists continue to refuse to ask for proof that the Quran was memorized? I want to know if the Quran was memorized or not. I want to know the truth. Why did you believe the Quran was memorized?. Theology is philosophy or rational thinking and fascism is the opposite, like religion, like atheism. Emergency.
