ArcSys doesn't want pot to be too strong, because people will complain if the 160 damage grab character is high tier. We probably just end up having a worse time if he gets too many buffs, because they will overbuff the rest of the cast to compensate.

Accent Core vanilla Potemkin was the first character I ever mained and I am pretty sure he’s the reason I never seriously played a grappler again. AC Potemkin is so cracked that it poisoned the well literally forever and no grappler will ever be able to stack up.

Justice was always a boss character so it's hardly a surprise that she's broken. I did hear that Kliff was tested in the early days of Accent Core before ultimately being banned, so I'd like to see how he works.

They were mainly banned because they weren't playable in the arcade version. Justice was definitely busted but Kliff was arguable. He had a lot of kill combos but that was pretty par for the course for AC.

Missing Link Potemkin is worse than really bad, he just doesn't function at all. Even Axl (an unfinished character with broken hitboxes) is stronger than Pot is

I'll try to summarize why Missing Link pot is awful. Infinites and over oppressive zoning is the name of the game, so he's severely outclassed. Almost every character has an infinite, so his high health usually means nothing. His high damage also means nothing because of the zoning, though this depends on the character he's facing, but most characters don't struggle to hit him first and put him in in infinite loop

This version of Pot was my first experience with Grapplers. Its safe to say that I was spoiled AF. I went against Eddies, Testaments & Dizzys in tournaments, and despite the disadvantage I had in those matchups I never felt that I couldn't win. Hell, there was a high level testament player that almost lost to me in a tournament because of how strong Pot was at the time. You just needed one good read, and they were put into your endless guessing game. I even managed to do the unblockable set up to a Johnny at the same tournament. Being familiar with the matchup because of a friend, knowing that Johnny got off the ground slower than other characters frame wise & my opponent using his burst (and having no meter to do a reversal) put him in the perfect position to be a victim of that. All I needed was to make him feel vulnerable one round, and I could condition him to mash more on wakeup.....which I immediately capitalized on. I love you Potemkin! I'll always love you!

The hit allows for combo into HK too and IIRC results in the same meter gain (maybe more but don't quote me?). This also catches jump outs which is why you're forced to take the slidehead rather than hold up back.

For anyone liking grapplers these give this version of Potemkin a run for his money or are outright better: -Tamaki (Aquapazza) outright better than Potemkin 50% meterless at any point, 70-80% with meter, assists, kills everyone in 2-3 exchanges meterless 2 with 1 meter -Bass (Dead or Alive 3) continuous ground throw loops and setups that are completely broken and can’t be escaped (or very difficult to escape). -Zangief (Street Fighter EX Plus @) THE best version of this iconic character. Low hitting completely invincible super that guarantees a FAT on guard and does good damage on hit. Goes right through fireballs too. Totally invincible lariat with huge range. (Only Blair will be your rival) -Exodus (Fighting Layer) Double 360 super guaranteed after blocked lariat, flame breath (which can function as a decent anti-air), body splash, close blow quits, blocked lariat super. Combos work on him just as everyone else, decent normals and aerials. Double 360 super also is instant and totally invincible meaning it will go through everything in close range and has no recovery that can be punished without a move already on screen before. Clemence and Darun (his rivals or replacements really don’t have shit on him) 3/4 of these characters also came before Potemkin

Yes it’s pretty good. There’s 1 point character and 1 assistant. It’s got satisfying combos and runs off the SF4 engine. Tamaki and Chizuru are totally broken and rule the top tier exclusively.

Tamaki from Aquapazza is THE top tier grappler; putting Potemkin’s best version to shame. -unblockable laser that stuns -high damage in almost every situation -mitigates weakness of range and getting in with proper partners that don’t run out (only on a timer- try Ma-Ryan, Yu, Rina, or Ulruthy) -easy 50-80% off command grab or buffered super -relatively easy to put into high emotion -isn’t cross up and combo food as she’s the same size as most of the other characters -easy natural combos that lead to oki or setups -DP and suplex command grab have invincibility -giant swing can wipe 50% or more from you and is regular command grab. Super can wipe 70-80% off you in regular to high emotion Weaknesses: range is short, can be hard to get in, MUST avoid actions that lead to low emotion Yeah, Potemkin really doesn’t have shit on her and she was created this way on purpose
