The water bugs: I had one land on my arm in Houston Texas when I was visiting, around 1970. I stared at it a second - I was only used to June bugs and Praying mantis in that size range. The thing was about 2"-2-1/2" long, and unlike those critters, this one bit me!! My arm swelled up like a balloon, and this was before we had reliable easy to access antihistamines. Hurt like the devil. I smacked it off my arm and it flew away, apparently unconcerned. They aren't just nightmares. If they land on something organic, they will bite!!

Yeah. The different antlion types relate to irl ones. The stationary ones who throw sand are the larva in their funnels. The running ones are probably older larva as they dont fly yet. And the flying ones are adults.

Tbh if any type of insect that we know of somehow received extreme intelligence.. I think only an intelligent spider species could advance technology enough for space travel, since they naturally can build webs and have so many legs allowing for tool use

Funny how the ant on the left in the thumbnail isn't actually in the pic on the right-.. That's a stamp spider on the right. While yes, the flatheaded ants do have heads that serve a similar purpose, I just found it weird how there's footage of this in action in the video but a screenshot of said action was replaced with another organism entirely.

@@TospikKing Spiders are Arachnida The difference between arachnida and insects is -Arachnida has 4 pairs of legs while insects have only 3 pairs of legs -Also arachnida has no wings but insects have 1 or 2 pairs of wings -And other body differences Like arachnida's body is formed of 2 segments (head - abdomen) But insects are formed of 3 segments (head - thoracic - abdomen ) There are many other differences but these are the main ones

I've tried to put a Mantis in Antlion larva trap, when the mantis's feet touch the larva's nest, the blast of soil attracts the mantis's attention. And you know who was eaten alive.
