The water bugs: I had one land on my arm in Houston Texas when I was visiting, around 1970. I stared at it a second - I was only used to June bugs and Praying mantis in that size range. The thing was about 2"-2-1/2" long, and unlike those critters, this one bit me!! My arm swelled up like a balloon, and this was before we had reliable easy to access antihistamines. Hurt like the devil. I smacked it off my arm and it flew away, apparently unconcerned. They aren't just nightmares. If they land on something organic, they will bite!!

I remember farming antlion larva’s with my brother back at my childhood home, he taught me the best way to sneak up on them since they can feel the vibration we make from really far away, the best part is that we would sell them for 10 bucks a pop👌

Tbh if any type of insect that we know of somehow received extreme intelligence.. I think only an intelligent spider species could advance technology enough for space travel, since they naturally can build webs and have so many legs allowing for tool use

I remember learning what an antlion was by watching the Maya Bee cartoon when I was a kid. It was interesting seeing the bee and the antlion larva teasing each other and then eventually becoming distant talking friends.

Funny how the ant on the left in the thumbnail isn't actually in the pic on the right-.. That's a stamp spider on the right. While yes, the flatheaded ants do have heads that serve a similar purpose, I just found it weird how there's footage of this in action in the video but a screenshot of said action was replaced with another organism entirely.
