God of War Ascension: Aegaeon the Hecatonchires Boss Fight

Kratos' rage may've been a unexpected act of mercy for the Hecatoncares. he had been mutilated and taxidermied into serving as a living prison by three soulless monsters, with the recent fight having them use his limbs, bones, and head by disgusting little possessor bugs. then comes in Kratos. though his battle with the Furies, he freed Aeagaeon from his grueling and tortuous fate. he's probably the only 'foe' of Kratos that actually be thankful for his bloodthirsty tendencies.

I think Kratos killing Aegeon was for the better. He was alive when they built buildings on his body and when he was infected and transformed by the parasites, it was just another layer of pain for him. So Kratos pulling a Prometheus on him was kinda better

I absolutely love this boss. The sound design is awesome, I keep coming back to this video just for the roars of the infected hands alone. Also the visual design of Aegaeon is so different compared to anything I've personally seen. A giant being with 100 arms having a prison built in and around it and also having parasites coming out of its hands is just mind blowing to me. Whoever came up with the design of it did an amazing job.

Agreed, even as I learn 3D modelling my love of this horrific boss and it's design keeps growing. Every now and then I make a new Hecetonchires to mark my progress to success, trying to keep the polycount as low as possible while making as many arms as possible is a fun challenge. One day I hope to make something a fraction as beautiful and horrifying as this design.

The Hecatonchires is supposed to be stronger than all titans combined. Apparently the blood oath they swore to Zeus was during the Titanomachy, they helped overthrow the titans and they were responsible for safe-guarding Tartarus. There were three of them in Greek Mythology, all of them sons of Gaia.

@@IanLEAU Sons of Gaia and Uranus. Uranus sent them to Tartarus and refused to name them after seeing how repulsive they were compared to the Titans that preceded them. When Cronus/Kronos took over, the Hecatonchires attacked him and the Titans. Realizing that he couldn’t control them, Kronos locked each up into Tartarus one at a time. Zeus, the youngest son of Kronos, went to them eventually and promised them freedom in exchange for fighting against the Titans on the side of the Gods. Two of them ended up being the new guards/masters of Tartarus, and one of them married Poseidon’s daughter and settled in a palace under the sea.
