Agree. It was so hard early on. The part after the bridge was tough, and when you fight the elf boss in alfheim was super difficult. I think I was level 3 at the time. Sigrun was a hoe too.

One thing that makes the give me god of war mode harder is the bunch of enemies in battles, the bosses are not so difficult in comparison, it's a curious thing. but in the beginning, buy the Executioner’s Cleave attack, helps a lot

For me personally the game is not fun when I don't feel like a god, so I play on normal difficulty. I'm not very good at games but enjoy the gameplay and story so I enjoy feeling like a super powerful being running around smashing all the basic enemies, with a bit of extra challenge on the boss fights and late-game enemies. Feels like a good natural progression to me.

For me it's really boring playing on gow difficulty. The game just take longer to play and finish. Takes 20 minutes hitting sand bag that one shot you just to go through a level is not as fun as I imagined. This is the laziest way to make a difficult game.

It’s not fun for me having to spend 5 minutes on a fight which should take 30 seconds because I’m fighting some tanky enemy who is barely taking damage from my strongest attacks, yet they can one shot me! Actually I defeated baldur with GOW difficulty and it took me only three hours to defeat him 🙃 And the entire game took me more than a month to complete And when I switched to easy mode I felt like I am the final boss to every living being I encountered

@@kaitotara734 i just beat sigrun on GOW diff a couple of days ago took me a while to beat, at least 4 hours of trial and error. I was switching runic attacks and atreus' special around. I also used to realm shift talisman, you basically stop time for around 5 seconds which allows you to get some sick combos in. I also had to switch between the axe and BOC to maximize the dmg output. I also would die in 2 hits so I had to play almost perfectly. I had a resurrection stone to save my ass. The one move I dont really like in the fight is the back peddle jump into a unblockable jab. i never really knew when she was going to do it and I had a small window to dodge it. Every other mistake was me being a dumbass

I enjoy playing from the normal difficulty to get used to the game and play several times until l can eventually beat the game on the hardest difficulty. But it wasn’t GoW 2018’s difficulty that turned me away, it just seemed so time consuming to clear rooms which lead me to feel more tired/bored after a fight rather than rewarded. Though, l don’t remember it being THIS long to kill one Draugr. This is so crazy

I tried it for a short while, and just having to reset all of your progress every time you made a minor slipup was painful. If it didn't take 30 minutes to clear out a room i don't think getting one shot would have been as big of an issue at least for me

Play it on normal, get all the gear and then make a new game + with the gear you collected. Makes it so much smoother but the enemies still hit like trucks. P. S. In new game + you can get even better gear then the max one you already have. Makes it more of a chase to get the ultimate gear for this game and trust me, it worth it.

I started the give me god of war difficulty and I erased my inventory and played from zero, it was a pain to be dying and dying but I kept determinated to win. Now I have the Zeus armor and the platinum trophie and I'm proud of it :) (it is my first platinum in a game btw)

I was actually thinking, the Valkyries and Beserkers are kind of like Souls bosses, you learn their move set and adapt, especially the king Beserker, he was rough, but I did beat him in the 5th or 6th try. He basically just combines the moves of all the Beserkers into one boss with a ludicrous health pool. Although I swear his timing changes on certain attacks and it’s really hard to adapt to the various timings. The Beserker fight with 3 enemies was more difficult imo

Fellow Souls player here, this game is far different, the invincible frames from rolling don’t work quite the same, and the enemy patterns don’t repeat so often, you have to be creative and play along; as in souls strategy and prepare were your better weapons.

Not to mention it gets easier as you progress because of zeus armor and you can just kill everything in a few attacks. Literally can just kill an entire group of enemies with one runic attack.

If you play with NewGame+ with max level armor, you'll get through it easily. This video is obviously using a low level Kratos, so his damage output is unrealistic. You kill them much faster normally, but they still kill you in like 3-4 hits, sometimes still 1 shot.

I essentially full cleared the game on gimme GoW, and I have to say, after the first about five hours, the game was really enjoyable for me. Just hitting that threshhold of getting used to new things and getting good enough gear/runics was so sattisfying. For me, most painful encounters were the first few where you dont get to use Atreus yet, so everything focuses on you.

For everyone wondering this isn't actually GMGOW on a new save it's NG+ GMGOW which is why it looks so impossible. NG+ bumps the starting level to 7 so the enemies seem impossible because this guy is a lvl 1 kratos vs a lvl 7 on the hardest difficulty

I always try to play games on the hardest difficulty because as you play you get better and by the time you’re done the fights become a walk on the park. Ghost of Tsushima on the hardest difficulty (where you die in 1 hit) taught me how to perfectly time parry’s and dodges every time and how to master stances and groups.

Good for you. I on the other hand picks game to play on difficulty. Game that requires skill to have fun like ghost of Tsushima, Sekiro or Doom is always on hard. But beat em up/story games like Gow, Warframe or Skyrim is always on easy. It's not fun taking 20 minutes just to clear a room full of sand bags, especially when they can one shot you.

@@389martijn But I didn't neglect gameplay for the sake of story. I just understand that if the game heavily lean on story, then gameplay may have some unpolished flaws. Which is understandable. And I simply chose not to indulge myself in something the game itself didn't focus on. Take DMC5 vs Gow for example. Both are beat-em-up type of game with the protagonist being an unstoppable badass beating army of thousands. The difficulty on DMC5 increases the experience and fun as the enemy can live longer so you can do more awesome combo to style on them. GOW however didn't have that stylish type of gameplay. The focus is more on the brutally of Kratos as he demolished thousands of demon and god-like enemy. But give-me-gow only make enemy takes longer to beat. It doesn't make the player feel like a god of war, more like a mortal warrior struggling every fight he have because he's just a mere mortal. So the in lore of the game didn't match with gameplay. Which make me unable to immerse myself in the the world.

This is why i'm not a very fan of the higher difficulity = higher hp, i'm still fine if it's have higher damage (even till everyone can one shoot you), but if they significanly increase the hp, instead having fun, most of the time you just gonna be annoyed with how long you're having a fight with a single enemy minion

Challenge difficulty I think is the best and most perfectly balanced. GMGOW is just extremely frustrating and insanely brutal. It took me about 3 hours to defeat the heavy draugr under the broken bridge.

I had to back down to challenge mode just before where you meet Brok for the first time. I probably could have stuck it out because I could tell things would level out once you got better stats. Even so, I wanted to enjoy the story at a good pace without getting stuck too bad. It was worth it. Will go back for the God of War mode later.

The GMGOW difficulty wasn't tuned for the first part of the game and it shows, the "tutorial" easily was one of the hardest part of the game (I did beat Sigrun) because all of your abilities and powerups weren't unlocked. If you could parry straight away it wouldn't be that bad but oh well. It is the best experience specially towards the mid and endgame, but all of the first part the enemies are just damage sponges until you leveling up your weapons.

If I could mod the game, I would create a dynamic scaling system that treated weaker enemies like draugrs like fodder but significantly increased the difficulty vs bosses. Would feel much more like a god

I like seeing a harder and most op version of enemies, reminds me like Ninja Gaiden difficulty changes. Where on normal or easy is normal variants but the harder the difficulty, a more advanced or stronger version appears and replaces enemies

Honestly, 2018 is a masterpiece, no doubt, but it's also a perfect example on how to NOT make higher difficulties fun or enjoyable. Seriously, making the enemies beefcakes while giving Kratos glass bones is just tedious. You know something's wrong when a FODDER enemie takes about 20 hits with the axe. Sure, it gets better, but my god are the first few hours a slog. You actually let out a sigh of relieve everytime you see a boss in this mode. I mean, if FromSoft decided to make the first few enemies in any SoulsLike game as beefy as this, I don't think many people, even hardcore fans would enjoy them anymore. All in all, I'm glad they've changed it somewhat in Ragnarök. Hell, even DMC3's DMD mode wasn't as frustrating as this 💀

Honestly, on a first playthrough I found Give Me a Balanced Experience to be the best option. Trying GMGOW on a first playthrough without becoming an expert at dodge and parry is just a death sentence. Give Me God of War was a fun challenge once I beat the game and mastered all of the techniques and acquired the combat experience. Still is absolutely brutal and your timing must be perfectly in sync if you even want a chance at beating the entire game on that difficulty

The cool thing about GOW difficulty though is that the game gets easier with progress due to the player unlocking more HP, more skills, more runic abilities, stat upgrades, etc. The beginning was brutal though.
