This is a game that not only impresses you but attracts you to play. I remember during the launch year, one of the review said that if you can only play 1 game this year, play god of war!

Imo I’ve always used keyboard and mouse no matter what, even in all the souls games which mainly have controller prompt, I went through hell to change the keybinds and make them somewhat memorable and it paid off in the end, but great review just bought god of war and installing it now! Also bought Elden ring, can’t wait to play !

@@fxspanky8687 Yes haha, I only played the game at the hardest difficulty because it’s more fun and challenging that way imo, I remember spending 20 mins just to kill a single enemy which I was way under levelled for its fun

See frankly speaking on pc u won't get aim assist of controller which u get on consoles so it becomes very tough to play with controller on pc...

the only games where controller is superior is racing games. the thumbstick to drive ist just much better than WASD. But for games like that M&K is the best

I've moved the block button to the right mouse button and the heavy attack on Q. is much better for targeting enemies while parrying.

the reason why they put it on PC, is because then Ragnarok comes out, PC players might buy a PlayStation. PC will not get Ragnarok until the next God of War game is about to come out.

Sony makes their money off the software and very little off the console itself. They should focus on including as many PC releases as possible - very few PC users will swap to console for many valid reasons.

Man, it sucks pressing l Ctrl to aim n shoot, then having to recall the axe. Wish it was a classic right click to aim style. Got a controller specifically for this game after starting, but wow it is way hard using a controller, so back with mouse\kb and will try different bindings.

I love this game but on MnK i am having huge issues with Kratos spinning out of control in combat only. It is extremely frustrating on Give me God of War mode. Only way to fix it is to pause and switch to windowed then back to borderless. It is almost a guaranteed death that isn't your fault. There is also an issue where Kratos just stops walking forward until you release the W key for a moment or so.

Using a last gen GPU (not that it's bad in any way, and runs the game) maybe the majority of your performance problems, definitely as your running it in 1440p. The 30 series cards run the game on max settings much better. Maybe an upgrade is needed for you? At least to maintain your expectations in quality of performance. Just a friendly opinion.

I'm running a oc 3070 with a 5800x at 1440p and it'll drop from 100+ to 60 for a millisecond making it stutter sometimes. Even if it's running at 60 or so it feels like less it's a problem with the port I feel

Running it with a 3070ti paired to 5800x on 1440p ultra, the fps drops from 100-105 when idle to high 80s and low 90s immediately when you move.

@@jagdeepdhillon8008 yeah ik sometimes like in the mountain lake or alfeim it'll drop to high 60s when you look at some areas but it feels like 30 it's weird the fps fluctuation of fps are crazy

I'm having an issue where it shows Play Station controls in place of keyboard controls. I am prompted to press "Triangle" to talk to spirits.... I don't have Play Station controller so i dont know what button to use for secondary interactions.

@9:44 This is why I have always used: Right Mouse = Forward, S,D,F = Left, Back, Right. It also leaves many more "surrounding" keys for frequently used stuff. WASD is the most ineffective control scheme ever. I have no idea why people switched to it, guessing it was default in Quake or Wolfenstein or something.

@@n.guyeddie5845 Varies game to game depending on if there is "aim" or "heavy + weak attacks" or "fire weapons", but normally in order of preference: "left click", "E", "V" or sometimes "side/thumb mouse" (usually reserved for aiming, draw bow, or zoom).

GoW doesn't run nearly as good as I had hoped on my PC at 1080p w/ PS4 settings. But at least I am having more fun with it on PC than on PS4 Pro due to the solid kb+mouse controls, consistent 40 fps, and G-Sync. The port is good... not a chef's kiss, not absolute perfection. It's just fine. Game's really fun and immersive. I hope we get to see many more Sony exclusives come to PC, even if they don't turn out any better than this.

It helps that if you have a mouse with some buttons on the side helps. For example pressing ctrl key is hard for me to do when I play Spider-man Remastered PC as the default dodge key and now the dodge key is remapped to right click button and my ctrl key is remapped to do Swan dive so it's easy for me to shift between hold shift key for web swinging and then switch down to ctrl key for swan dive then hold shift again for another swing.

Comtroller is just good for convinience and its easy to learn with muscle memory, but this game also has precision aiming which I suck with controllers ,for quick time puzzle I always have to revert to a mouse

I'm about halfway through GMGOW on my first ever playthrough. It's a lot of fun. I have aim bound to the right mouse button, so in many ways it feels like a third person shooter. Heavy attack is a side mouse button and ctrl. I can use whichever feels better at the moment. Block is Q now, but I'm thinking of also binding it to another side mouse button.

Not as great as you think, the mouse has negative acceleration going on it needs fixing.

There was a patch a few days ago that added Precision mouse mode. It completely fixes the issue. Luckily for me I started the game recently, so I never had to put up with negative acceleration. This is an example of why I like to wait awhile after a game's release.
